Police looking for Mayfair bank robber

A man entered a bank and used a threatening note to demand money.

Police and the FBI are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed a bank in Mayfair on Dec. 16.

The man entered the Republic Bank branch at 7300 Frankford Ave. around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. He demanded money from the bank teller with a threatening note and a verbal command.

After receiving the cash, he fled the area on foot, heading north on Frankford Avenue and turning west onto Ryan Avenue.

Police describe the man as a black male in his mid 20s or early 30s with a light complexion and goatee. They said he is approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black puffy jacket with the hood up with blue jeans and dark-colored sneakers.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should contact the FBI or PPD Violent Crimes Task Force by calling 215-418-4000.

An award is being offered for information that leads to the man’s capture. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
