Trash picked up in Poquessing

Bag it: More than 30 bags of trash among other items were picked up in the woods near Poquessing Creek.

The Friends of Poquessing Watershed recently teamed with the Philadelphia Water Department, concerned neighbors, Town Watch members and Philadelphia Mills to remove trash and debris from the woods bordering Poquessing Creek and adjacent to the mall parking lot, between Bethel Church and Sam’s Club.

The haul included 32 bags of trash, 25 tires, 13 shopping carts, five construction buckets, four TVs, two tents, three trash cans, a child’s car seat, a hose, a Christmas tree, a lamp, a soda cooler, clothing, bedding, a mattress, recliner and children’s toys.

Some trash remains, and the Friends of Poquessing Watershed hopes to do another cleanup in January.
