Feast of Justice supporting federal employees

Residents can donate food, personal care items and more for federal workers affected by the government shutdown.

Feast of Justice at 3101 Tyson Ave. will hold two events next week to help federal workers who have been affected by the government shutdown.

Federal workers who present their federal employee ID cards will have access to fresh and non-perishable foods, personal care items, diapers, laundry aids and other products and services. The events will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 3 to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We are trying to provide emergency assistance to those affected by the government shutdown,” said Rev. Tricia Neale.

The public can donate food, goods and/or cash and checks to help the federal workers. Donations can be dropped off at Feast of Justice’s location in Mayfair. They are also in the process of setting up drop-off sites at areas around the Northeast.

The federal workers do not have to be from Northeast Philadelphia, Neale said, though information will be given about ongoing services only in the Northeast. Agencies involved with NESTCo. will be onsite to provide information about counseling, housing, assistance with additional benefits and more.

For more information about the event and how to donate, email [email protected]. Federal workers can also register for the events through that email. Registration is not mandatory, but encouraged.

Feast of Justice is a nonprofit and one of the largest food cupboards in Northeast Philadelphia. Over 2,000 households use its services.

If necessary, a second event will be planned for February.
