One man was in critical condition and another injured after a shooting Monday night in a parking lot near Roosevelt Mall, police said.
Authorities said two men were taken into custody after the shooting, but no charges had been filed by noon on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at Cottman and Bustleton avenues, and Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told 6abc that a total of 24 shots were fired from an assault rifle.
Police said a man between the ages of 20 and 25 years old was in critical condition after being shot in the lower left side of the back. A 27-year-old man was also shot once in the leg, according to police.
Both men were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in a private vehicle, police said. Authorities said a white Pontiac Vibe recovered at the hospital had two bullet holes in the windshield and the back window was shot out.
There was no word on what caused the shooting, and authorities have not released the names of anyone involved. ••
