Two men have been charged in connection with a shooting Monday, Feb. 11, at Roosevelt Mall in Rhawnhurst that injured two people.

A total of 24 shots were reportedly fired from an assault rifle in the incident, and police said a bullet even pierced the window of a nearby home and nearly struck a 66-year-old woman who was sitting in her living room.

Christopher Davenport, 22, of the 2600 block of Welsh Road in Winchester Park, and Khaseem Meadley, also 22, of the 7200 block of Oakland Street in Castor Gardens, were arrested by officers after the shooting, authorities said.

Both men were charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault and related offenses, according to police.

Gunfire erupted just after 8:30 p.m. in the mall parking lot at Cottman and Bustleton avenues. Officers responding to the incident spoke to an off-duty cop who said they saw shots fired from a white SUV, police said.

The vehicle was still in the parking lot, and the officers arrested Davenport and Meadley and recovered the rifle, authorities said.

Police said the two shooting victims, a 21-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, were taken by a private car to Hahnemann University Hospital.

Authorities said the 21-year-old man was shot in the back and is listed in critical condition. The 27-year-old was also shot in the back, but he is in stable condition. A car recovered by police at the hospital was riddled with bullets.

A woman who lives near the mall told officers a bullet came through her window and hit the wall directly above her head, police said.

Investigators say they believe the shooting was drug-related. ••
