Bill Arthur, new recreation leader at Holmesburg Recreation Center, spoke at last week’s Holmesburg Civic Association meeting.
Arthur filled in for state Rep. Joe Hohenstein and financial services executive Michael Alles, who were unable to attend.
A Tacony native who attended St. Leo and Father Judge High School (class of 1987), Arthur mentioned that the recreation center is the home of the Star Players, a theater group. Annie will run June 27-29 at Venice Island Performing Arts Center, 7 Lock St. in Manayunk.

The center also offers musical instrument and voice lessons, dance and art classes and a tot rec program, and is considering starting a flag football league in the spring.

Stuhl said Hohenstein hopes to open an office near Frankford and Cottman avenues by July.
• Paul Ragan, senior citizen outreach coordinator for City Councilman Bobby Henon, invited constituents to visit the councilman’s office at 6730 Torresdale Ave.

Henon will hold a shredder event on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside Abraham Lincoln High School’s Rowland Avenue entrance.
