Crime Log: Feb. 18 to March 3

2nd Police District

There were seven robberies. Tremain Colbert, 20, was arrested Feb. 19 following a robbery at a grocery store at 7000 Castor Ave. Robberies that took place on the street happened at 6800 Bustleton Ave. (Feb. 18) and 6800 Summerdale Ave. (Feb. 23), both of which involved handguns, and 5400 Claridge St. (March 1), which did not involve a weapon. Other robberies took place at a restaurant at 7500 Castor Ave. (March 1), an apartment house at 500 Comly St. (Feb. 21) and a grocery store/mini market at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. (Feb. 21).

There were 10 aggravated assaults, which yielded five arrests. Domestic assaults took place at private residences at 600 Alcott St. (Feb. 18, Sheila Walker, 54), 6600 Large St. (Feb. 19) and 6300 Oakland St. (Feb. 25, John Garofolo, 40), at an apartment house at 4700 Roosevelt Blvd. (Feb. 24, Tytiana Capers, 20) and on the street at the intersection of Summerdale Avenue and Saint Vincent Street (Feb. 18, Kevin Chilton, 28). Aggravated assaults that took place on the street happened at 600 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Feb. 21) and 4800 Summerdale Ave. (Feb. 25, Leonardo Suero-Rodriguez, 30), both of which involved handguns, and 6300 Oxford Ave. (Feb. 22) and 5500 N. Hill Creek Drive (Feb. 27), both of which involved knives. An assault at a private residence involving a handgun took place at 2000 Glendale Ave. on Feb. 18.

There were 10 burglaries and one burglary attempt, most of which took place at private residences or apartment houses. Burglaries targeted private residences at 1900 Borbeck Ave. (Feb. 18), 2200 Unruh Ave. (Feb. 19), 1000 Alcott St. (Feb. 19), 900 Pratt St. (Feb. 19), 5800 Oxford Ave. (Feb. 20), 1100 Napfle Ave. (Feb. 19) and an attempt at 400 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Feb. 28). Other burglaries targeted apartment houses at 600 Magee Ave. (Feb. 25) and 6700 Castor Ave. (March 3), a grocery store at 900 Bridge St. (Feb. 23) and a retail store at 5900 Rising Sun Ave. (Feb. 23).

There were 63 thefts, which targeted 27 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags), 24 businesses, five street thefts, three private residences, two hotels/motels, an apartment house and a doctor’s office. Five arrests were made. In addition, 28 vehicles were stolen, 23 of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made.

7th Police District

There were three robberies. They took place at a bank at 9300 Krewstown Road (March 1) which involved a handgun, a grocery store/mini market at 1900 Welsh Road (Feb. 27) and an unlisted location at 10900 Bustleton Ave.

The only reported aggravated assault took place on the street at 9400 Hilspach St. on Feb. 26.

There were seven burglaries. Burglaries targeted private residences at 13000 Worthington Road (Feb. 24), 2300 Stanwood St. (Feb. 24) and 2300 Benson St. (Feb. 20). Other burglaries took place at apartment houses at 2300 Benson St. (Feb. 25) and 700 Byberry Road (Feb. 28), an office building at 2000 Red Lion Road (Feb. 24) and a storage facility at 1500 Grant Ave. (March 1).

There were 30 thefts, which targeted 14 vehicles (including a stolen car phone), 11 businesses, three street thefts, a private residence and an apartment house. Seven arrests were made. In addition, one motor vehicle was reported stolen.

8th Police District

There were five robberies. Two targeted banks with handguns, happening at 9100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Feb. 25) and 2500 Grant Ave. (Feb. 27). The others took place on the street at 8000 Craig St. (Feb. 19), which involved a knife, and 2900 Welsh Road (March 2), as well as an unlisted location at 1100 Stewards Way (Feb. 22).

There were six aggravated assaults. Three took place at prison facilities at 8300 State Road (Feb. 25), which involved a knife or other weapon, 8100 State Road (Feb. 25) and 8000 State Road (Feb. 27). Two took place at an athletic field/playground at 3200 Red Lion Road on Feb. 21. One assault took place at a department store at 1300 Franklin Mills Circle on Feb. 22.

There were four burglaries, which targeted a private residence at 4700 Grant Ave. (Feb. 19), an apartment house at 2600 Tremont St. (Feb. 18), an office building at 1700 Franklin Mills Circle (March 3) and a sporting goods store/gun shop at 4700 Blakiston St. (Feb. 24).

There were 48 thefts, which targeted 21 vehicles (including four stolen vehicle tags), 20 businesses, two street thefts, a private residence, an apartment house, a parking lot/garage, a doctor’s office and a government office. Three arrests were made. In addition, 10 vehicles were reported stolen, eight of which have been recovered. One attempt to steal a vehicle was made at a parking lot/garage at 2700 Southampton Road. Three arrests were made.

15th Police District

There were 21 robberies, which yielded eight arrests. Nijeer Brown, 20, Zhamir Burke, 19, Razahe Jones, 19, and Veronica White, 19, were arrested Feb. 22 following a robbery at a grocery store/mini market at 7000 Roosevelt Blvd. Robberies that took place on the street and involved handguns took place at 7200 Brous Ave. (Feb. 22), 7200 Torresdale Ave. (Feb. 23), 4800 Hellerman St. (Feb. 24) and 3300 Tyson Ave. (March 2). Robberies that took place on the street and involved knives took place at the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Hellerman Street (Feb. 19), 1700 Bridge St. (Feb. 28) and 4300 Frankford Ave. (March 1, Michael Sproul, 32). Robberies that took place on the street and did not involve weapons took place at the intersection of Tackawanna and Foulkrod streets (Feb. 19), 1400 Bridge St. (Feb. 20), 6100 Marsden St. (Feb. 20), 4900 Frankford Ave. (Feb. 21, Joseph Ponczek, 29), 5000 Frankford Ave. (Feb. 22), 4800 Disston St. (Feb. 25), 4400 Van Kirk St. (Feb. 27), 6500 Frankford Ave. (March 2, Robert Jenkins, 43) and a purse-snatching at Frankford Avenue and Bridge Street (March 2). Other robberies took place at private residences at 3100 Brighton St. (Feb. 19), which involved a handgun, and 1200 Adams Ave. (Feb. 19), a restaurant at 1400 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Feb. 18, Khalil Green, 29) and a factory/warehouse at 2200 Fraley St. (Feb. 18).

There were 19 aggravated assaults, which yielded 10 arrests. Assaults that took place on the street with handguns happened at 7100 Brous Ave. (Feb. 19, Trina Scott, 22), 4600 Penn St. (Feb. 22, Stephen Harris, 66), 4600 Ditman St. (March 1), 4700 Princeton Ave. (March 1, Tireak Young, 33), 3500 Cottman Ave. (March 2, Delaine C. Benjamin, 27) and 7000 Frankford Ave. (March 3). Other assaults that took place on the street included a domestic assault at 3300 Wellington St. (Feb. 23, Tamika Scarbo, 36) and assaults involving weapons at 7200 Torresdale Ave. (Feb. 23) and 2900 St. Vincent St. (Feb. 23). Domestic assaults that took place at private residences took place twice at 1800 Haworth St. (Feb. 21), 3000 Disston St. (Feb. 23), 6500 Hegerman St. (Feb. 28, Robert Jarrett, 52), 2800 Orthodox St. (March 1, Ryan Tropey, 36), 3000 Unruh Ave. (Feb. 25), 5400 Harbison Ave. (Feb. 23, Billy Reed, 56) and an assault that did not involve a weapon at 3100 Longshore Ave. (Feb. 24). Other assaults took place at a food store at 4600 Frankford Ave. (March 1, Shawn Hammond, 32), which involved a handgun, and a rooming house/shelter at 4700 Frankford Ave. (Feb. 26, Latoya Truesdale, 30), which involved a knife.

There were six burglaries. Three targeted private residences at 5800 Torresdale Ave. (March 1), 7200 Battersby St. (Feb. 19) and 4100 Tyson Ave. (Feb. 20). Other robberies took place at SEPTA property at 6000 Penn St. (Feb. 25) and an unlisted location at 4700 Leiper St. (Feb. 19). Xavier Morel, 28, was arrested March 1 following a burglary at a church/synagogue at 2000 Orthodox St.

There were 60 thefts, which targeted 21 vehicles, 17 businesses, 10 street thefts, four private residences, three apartment houses, two private schools, a public school, SEPTA property and an unlisted location. Four arrests were made. In addition, 49 vehicles were reported stolen, 36 of which have been recovered. Seven arrests were made.
