Crime Log: April 1 – 14

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were seven robberies. Robberies on the street took place at 1400 Friendship St. (April 10) and 1200 Fanshawe St. (April 12), both of which involved handguns, 6800 Summerdale Ave. (April 9) and a purse snatching at 5700 Oxford Ave. (April 10). Two private residences were targeted at 900 Scattergood St. (April 11) and 6600 Akron St. (April 12). A chain retail store at 5700 Oxford Ave. was robbed with a handgun April 10.

There were 15 aggravated assaults, which yielded three arrests. Heng Chen, 68, was arrested April 11 following two assaults at a private residence at 1400 Friendship St. Enfu Huang, 39, was arrested April 9 following an assault involving a knife at an apartment house at 1900 Cottman Ave. Luke Stanshine, 28, was arrested April 12 following an assault involving a knife at a credit union at 7500 Castor Ave. Assaults on the street took place at 500 E. Cheltenham Ave. (April 5), 5200 E. Tabor Road (April 7), 500 Carver St. (April 7), 7900 Bustleton Ave. (April 11), 7200 Loretto Ave. (April 10), 800 Longshore Ave. (April 12) and 6900 Eastwood St. (April 14), the latter of which involved a handgun. Other assaults took place at private residences at 800 Marcella St. (April 12) and 2100 Tyson Ave. (April 12), an apartment house at 6200 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 7) and a gas station at 1100 Cottman Ave. (April 10).

There were 10 burglaries and one attempt, almost all of which targeted private residences or apartment houses. Michael Porreca, 26, was arrested April 9 following the burglary of a private residence at 7400 Lawndale St., and Jermane Jackson, 43, was arrested April 12 following the burglary of an unspecified location at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. Other burglaries took place at private residences at 5500 Miriam Road (April 1), 800 Marcella St. (April 12), 1600 Longshore Ave. (April 2), 7700 Hasbrook Ave. (April 7), 900 Marcella St. (April 1) and 2100 Unruh Ave. (April 5) and apartment houses at 7300 Rockwell Ave. (April 8) and 7200 Bustleton Ave. (April 5).

There were 62 thefts, which targeted 34 businesses, 17 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags), nine street thefts, an apartment house and a hotel/motel. Eight arrests were made. In addition, 16 vehicles were stolen, 11 of which have been recovered. Three arrests were made.

7th Police District

There were four robberies. Two targeted vehicles, taking place at 9900 Bustleton Ave. (April 11), which involved a knife, and 10000 Bustleton Ave. (April 11). A drug store at 10000 Bustleton Ave. was robbed April 2, and a grocery store/mini market at 900 Red Lion Road was robbed April 2.

The only reported aggravated assault took place on the street at 8200 Castor Ave. on April 13 and involved a weapon.

There were four robberies and two attempts. Private residences were burglarized at 1800 Arnold St. (April 11), 700 Millwood Road (April 4) and 1800 Evarts St. (April 10), as well as an attempt at 8300 Algon Ave. (April 11). Apartment houses were targeted at 700 Red Lion Road (April 2) and an attempt at 400 Byberry Road (April 10).

There were 26 thefts, which targeted 14 businesses, 10 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag), a street theft and a private residence. There were seven arrests. In addition, two vehicles were reported stolen, both of which have been recovered.

8th Police District

There were two reported robberies. One took place at a private residence at 9000 Brous Ave. on April 11 and involved a handgun, and the other took place on the street at 8800 Cottage St. on April 8.

There were six aggravated assaults, which yielded two arrests. Steven Irivarry, 31, was arrested April 8 following two assaults on police on the street at 9200 Roosevelt Blvd. Ed Gardner, 58, was arrested April 9 following an assault on the street at 9800 Roosevelt Blvd. Other assaults included domestic attacks at apartment houses at 8200 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 4) and 9600 Ashton Road (April 14), an assault on police on the street at 10600 Knights Road (April 7) and a child abuse incident at a private residence at 3400 Eden St. (April 9).

Two of the three burglaries targeted private residences, taking place at 4500 Pennypack St. (April 13) and 4700 Ashburner St. (April 3). The third burglary targeted a gas station at 2800 Holme Ave. on April 2.

There were 39 thefts, which targeted 17 businesses, 14 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and two vehicle tags), three street thefts, two private residences, an apartment house, a bicycle and a college/university. Two arrests were made. In addition, six vehicles were stolen, one of which was recovered.

15th Police District

There were 18 robberies, most of which took place on the street. Shafran Williams, 33, was arrested April 14 following a robbery on the street of 5800 Tulip St., and David Reeves, 29, was arrested April 2 following a robbery on the street of 4300 Devereaux Ave. Robberies that took place on the street and involved handguns happened at the intersection of Unruh Avenue and Revere Street (April 7), 3100 Saint Vincent St. (April 7), 3200 Ryan Ave. (April 9), 2800 Hedley St. (April 10) and 6100 Ditman St. (April 13). Robberies on the street involving knives took place at 6800 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 4) and 5200 Frankford Ave. (April 10), and a robbery involving another weapon took place at 5000 Frankford Ave. (April 7). Robberies on the street involving no weapons took place at 2000 Bridge St. (April 5), the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Church Street (April 11), 5200 Frankford Ave. (April 12), 4000 E. Cheltenham Ave. (April 13) and 1400 Pratt St. (April 14). Others targeted an office building at 4600 Frankford Ave. (April 1), a taxi cab at the intersection of Ditman and Howell streets (April 9) and a private residence at 2200 Brill St. (April 14), the latter of which involved a handgun.

There were 26 aggravated assaults, which yielded seven arrests. Assaults involving handguns took place on the street at the intersection of Oxford Circle and Roosevelt Boulevard (April 2), the intersection of Longshore Avenue and Jackson Street (April 2), 7200 Frankford Ave. (April 7), 4700 Mercer St. (April 11), 1500 Church St. (April 11) and 1600 Fillmore St. (April 12). Assaults involving knives or other weapons took place on the street at the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Hellerman Street (April 3, Mark Burton, 58), 7000 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 12, Janera Brown, 26), 7200 Frankford Ave. (April 7), the intersection of Wakeling Street and Torresdale Avenue (April 8), 3400 Chippendale Ave. (April 9, Richard Lohn, 49) and 5100 Cottage St. (April 12, Timothy J. Sherfield, 28). Domestic assaults that took place on the street happened at 5000 Tulip St. (April 13), 1700 Dyre St. (April 2), 1300 Sellers St. (April 10), 2500 Church St. (April 11) and 4900 Saul St. (April 7). Domestic assaults that took place in private residences happened at 7100 Cottage St. (April 4 and 5), 7700 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 7, Danielle Schwager, 34) and 4500 Salmon St. (April 5, Walter Huot, 52). Other assaults at private residences that involved weapons happened at 1400 Church St. (April 2) and 2100 Shallcross St. (April 8). Other assaults took place at an apartment house at 3200 Guilford St. (April 6, William Kleschick, 59), a bar/cafe at 4500 Castor Ave. (April 6) and a public school at 3200 Ryan Ave. (April 2).

There were 12 burglaries, most of which targeted private residences. These took place at 3100 Windish St. (April 9), 7000 Glenloch St. (April 14), 2300 Buckius St. (April 6), 6500 Torresdale Ave. (April 9), 4600 Naples St. (April 12), twice at 5200 Duffield St. (April 3 and 12), 2100 Anchor St. (April 8) and 6900 Tulip St. (April 13). Others targeted retail locations at 5500 Torresdale Ave. (April 9) and 6000 Harbison Ave. (April 8) and a restaurant at 6600 Frankford Ave. (April 10).

There were 71 thefts, which targeted 25 vehicles (including five stolen vehicle tags and two stolen car phones), 20 businesses, 15 street thefts (including three purse snatchings), five private residences, two bicycles, two public schools, a mental institution and an unlisted location. Three arrests were made. In addition, there were 41 vehicles reported stolen, 29 of which have been recovered.
