A father and his 12-year-old son were shot Monday, April 22, in Frankford, apparently by burglars who had broken into their home.

Officers responded to the 5200 block of Marlowe Street around 9:50 p.m. and found a 33-year-old man who was shot multiple times in the arms, legs and torso, police said. The boy suffered a graze wound to his chest, authorities said.

Both were taken to Temple University Hospital, and the father was admitted in critical condition, police said. The boy was treated and released.

The shooting occurred after the family arrived home, and the father noticed the rear door window was broken, police said.

He went inside and spotted two men in the kitchen armed with handguns, authorities said. The men opened fire on the father, who ran out the back door as the suspects continued shooting, according to police.

The suspects left through the same back door, jumped off the deck and fled the scene.

No arrests had been made in the case as of Tuesday morning, police said. The Northeast Detective Division is investigating the shooting.

Authorities described the suspects as two black males between the ages of 26 and 29 who may have been driving a gold-colored SUV or minivan. One of the men was heavy set and seen wearing a gray jacket, and the other had a tattoo on his left arm and was wearing a red and blue jacket, police said. ••
