Crime Log: June 10 – 23

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

2nd Police District

There were 10 robberies. Raekwon Flemings, 23, was arrested following a robbery on the street at 500 Adams Ave. (June 17). Robberies on the street involving handguns took place at 1400 Fanshawe St. (June 10), 5300 Tabor Ave. (June 12), 1400 Comly St. (June 13), 600 Garland St. (June 18) and 700 Sanger St. (June 20). Robberies on the street that did not involve weapons took place at 2100 Unruh Ave. (June 14) and 6400 Bustleton Ave. (June 16). Other robberies took place at private residences at 7200 Horrocks St. (June 16), which involved a handgun, and 1400 Kerper St. (June 19).

There were 12 aggravated assaults, which yielded five arrests. Assaults on the street took place at 600 E. Cheltenham Ave. (June 11), 7200 Castor Ave. (June 12) and 400 Alcott St. (June 21), all of which involved handguns; 5900 Malta St. (June 13, Gregory Gudger, 26), which involved a knife; 800 Scattergood St. (June 11, Shanise Bolden, 28), which involved another weapon; and a domestic assault at 1100 E. Cheltenham Ave. (June 11). Other assaults took place at private residences at 5900 Malta St. (June 23) and 1400 Lardner St. (June 16, Catherine Swaringer, 28), apartment houses at 1200 Kerper St. (June 10, Benette Dacila, 21) and 6800 Rutland St. (June 19), at a grocery store at 5800 Castor Ave. (June 23, Shawntane Brown, 48) and a bar/cafe at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. (June 21).

There were 10 burglaries, most of which targeted private residences. These took place at 7400 Lawndale St. (June 17), 7800 Whitaker Ave. (June 22), 2100 Shelmire Ave. (June 11), 7100 Oakland St. (June 14) and 1400 Magee Ave. (June 20). Other burglaries took place at grocery stores at 6200 Algon Ave. (June 17) and 5900 Rising Sun Ave. (June 21), an apartment house at 7900 Bradford St. (June 14), public housing at 900 Stevens Terrace (June 11) and a store at 7200 Rising Sun Ave. (June 19).

There were 64 thefts, which targeted 35 vehicles (including two vehicle tags), 21 businesses, four private residences, two bicycles, a street theft and a doctor’s office. Seven arrests were made. In addition, 17 vehicles were stolen, 13 of which have been recovered.

7th Police District

There were two robberies. Christopher Davis, 35, was arrested June 19 following a bank robbery at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd. There was also a robbery on the street at 600 Wynmill Road on June 22 that involved a handgun.

There were two aggravated assaults. Jahongir Aslamov, 18, Mark Khavinson, 20, and Savlat Tursunov, 19, were arrested June 16 following an assault on the street at 9800 Bustleton Ave. There was also an assault on the street at 8800 Krewstown Road on June 13.

There were four burglaries, which took place at a private residence at 9000 Pine Road (June 20), an apartment house at 2100 Rhawn St. (June 19), a doctor’s office at 8100 Bustleton Ave. (June 12) and an unspecified location at 1100 Southampton Road (June 14).

There were 29 thefts, which targeted 12 vehicles, 10 businesses, four street thefts, two private residences and an apartment house. There were five arrests. In addition, five vehicles were reported stolen, four of which have been recovered. One arrest was made. 

8th Police District

There were two robberies, which took place on the street at 4000 Blakiston St. with a knife on June 22 and at a private residence at 4400 Aberdale Road on June 20.

Two of the three aggravated assaults ended in arrests. Scott Kilpatrick, 45, was arrested June 14 following an assault on the street at 12000 Waldemire Drive. Shawn Marcelis, 19, was arrested June 15 following a domestic assault at a private residence at 2700 Welsh Road. There was also a domestic assault at a private residence at 200 Parkdale Road on June 17.

There were four burglaries, which took place at private residences at 8000 Terry St. (June 14) and 9300 Walker St. (June 17), a grocery store at 3200 Willits Road (June 15) and a restaurant at 3200 Willits Road (June 13).

There were 53 thefts, which targeted 25 businesses, 23 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags and a car phone), two street thefts, a private residence and two unlisted locations. Five arrests were made. In addition, 10 vehicles were reported stolen, seven of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were 18 robberies, which yielded three arrests. Robberies on the street involving handguns took place at 5000 Jackson St. (June 10), 6000 Oakland St. (June 13), 3600 Meridian St. (June 13), 6100 Roosevelt Blvd. (June 13), 4600 Horrocks St. (June 14), 4100 Unruh Ave. (June 14), the intersection of Disston and Keystone streets (June 17) and the intersection of Vandike and Wellington streets (June 19). Other robberies on the street took place at 5900 Torresdale Ave. (June 16) and 4600 Vista St. (June 11, Imir S. Johnson, 18). Other robberies took place at food stores at 5000 Frankford Ave. (June 23) and 5300 Torresdale Ave. (June 23), retail locations at 4300 Frankford Ave. (June 19) and 2000 Margaret St. (June 19, Sherriff Jones, 20), mini markets at 1500 Church St. (June 19, Marcus Taylor, 19) and 5100 Whitaker Ave. (June 22), a bank at 7300 Frankford Ave. (June 18) and an unlisted location at 5800 Torresdale Ave. (June 14).

There were 25 aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults on the street included domestic assaults at 4900 Griscom St. (June 16) and 4800 Hawthorne St. (June 16); assaults involving handguns at 5100 Oakland St. (June 10), 1600 Wakeling St. (June 13), 4800 Longshore Ave. (June 14), 2100 Granite St. (June 15), 7400 Torresdale Ave. (June 16), 4800 Griscom St. (June 20), 1500 Womrath St. (June 21), 1600 Bridge St. (June 22) and 3100 Barnett St. (June 23); an assault involving a knife at 4100 Barnett St. (June 17); assaults with other weapons at the intersection of Tackawanna and Meadow streets (June 12) and the intersection of Hawthorne Street and Princeton Avenue (June 13); assaults that did not involve weapons at 5100 Marlow St. (June 13) and 6300 Walker St. (June 13, Viannie Torres, 33); and domestic assaults at 3100 Tyson Ave. (June 18), 1900 Fillmore St. (June 18), 5000 Homestead St. (June 23) and two assaults on police at 7900 Frankford Ave. (June 17, Rebecca Reikow, 32). Other assaults took place at private residences at 6500 Edmund St. (June 16) and 1800 Pratt St. (June 18), an apartment house at 4700 Leiper St. (June 16) and a hospital at 4900 Frankford Ave. (June 19, Malik Hoffman, 45). 

There were 10 burglaries and one attempt. Rafael Solso, 21, was arrested June 19 following a burglary attempt at a private residence at 3100 Tyson Ave. Other burglaries at private residences happened at 4300 Penn St. (June 10), 4000 Roosevelt Blvd. (June 14), 4500 Unruh Ave. (June 17) and 2100 Lardner St. (June 10); commercial garages at 5900 Harbison Ave. (June 20), 7900 Roosevelt Blvd. (June 20) and 4100 Torresdale Ave. (June 20); apartment houses at 4700 Tacony St. (June 22) and 6900 Keystone St. (June 18); and a retail location at 6200 Bustleton Ave. (June 17).

There were 120 thefts, which targeted 47 vehicles (including five stolen vehicle tags and a stolen car phone), 32 businesses, 19 private residences, 15 street thefts (including a pickpocketing and a purse snatching), three apartment houses, three bicycles and an athletic field/playground. A total of 21 arrests were made. In addition, 45 vehicles were reported stolen, 29 of which have been recovered. Five arrests were made.
