Crime Log: June 24 – July 7

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were four robberies, all of which took place on the street. Robberies involving handguns took place at 1400 Cottman Ave. (June 26) and 6100 Oakley St. (June 29), and robberies involving no weapons took place at 900 Levick St. (June 28) and 5200 Howland St. (June 29).

There were nine aggravated assaults. Shaila Gutierrez, 28, was arrested June 24 following an assault involving a knife at a private residence at 6300 Elmhurst St. Other assaults at private residences included domestic assaults at 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 6) and 6400 Rising Sun Ave. (June 28), and an assault with no weapons at 500 Alcott St. (June 24). Assaults on the street took place at 600 Robbins St. (June 28), which involved a handgun, assaults with other weapons at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. (June 30) and the intersection of Rising Sun Avenue and Rosalie Street (July 6), an assault with no weapon at 600 Adams Ave. (June 25) and a domestic assault at 5800 Castor Ave. (July 1).

There were four burglaries and one attempt. Private residences were targeted at 6000 Newtown Ave. (June 30), 900 Stevens Terrace (June 28) and an attempt at 900 Anchor St. (July 5). Other burglaries took place at an apartment house at 300 Van Kirk St. (June 30) and a retail location at 7400 Bustleton Ave. (July 7).

There were 83 thefts, which targeted 35 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and two stolen vehicle tags), 31 businesses, 10 street thefts, four private residences, a bicycle, a nursing home and a hotel. Five arrests were made. In addition, 16 vehicles were reported stolen, nine of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.

7th Police District

Both robberies took place on the highway, with one robbery involving a handgun taking place at 8100 Pine Road on June 25, and the other taking place at 8700 Bustleton Ave. on July 1 with no weapon.

There were three aggravated assaults. Alan Wright, 61, was arrested July 6 following an assault involving a knife on the street at 2300 Rhawn St. Domestic assaults took place at an apartment house at 8500 Verree Road on July 3 and 600 Artwood Drive on June 28.

There were no reported robberies.

There were 20 thefts, which targeted 15 businesses, three street thefts and two vehicles. Four arrests were made. In addition, four vehicles were reported stolen, one of which was recovered.

8th Police District

There were six robberies. Donald Odom, 46, was arrested July 4 following the robbery of a department store at 4300 Byberry Road involving a handgun. Robberies on the street happened at the intersection of Newberry and Academy roads (July 4), which involved a handgun, and 2900 Holme Ave. (June 27) and 1400 Franklin Mills Circle (July 6). Other robberies took place at a private residence at 3600 Rhawn St. (June 26) and a delivery service at 0 Franklin Mills Blvd. (July 5).

There were nine aggravated assaults, which yielded six arrests. Assaults at private residences took place at 8900 Frankford Ave. (July 7, Anthony Bohenek, 50), 10800 Heflin Road (July 6, Brynn Decker, 19) and 9200 Andover Road (June 30, Joseph Cook, 49). Assaults took place on the street at 3600 W. Crown Ave. (June 26) and twice at 3400 Ashfield Lane (July 3, Gregor Francis, 39, and Christian Heritage, 32). Other assaults happened at an apartment house at 8000 Ditman St. (June 24, Eric Pope, 23), a PLCB-licensed establishment at 1900 Franklin Mills Circle (July 5) and a prison facility at 8300 State Road (June 30).

There were four burglaries, which took place at private residences at 8000 Albion St. (July 3) and 2800 Hargrave St. (July 3), an apartment house at 4400 Wingate St. (July 1) and an office building at 2900 Southampton Road (June 29).

There were 46 thefts, which targeted 18 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and one stolen vehicle tag), 17 businesses, four street thefts, three private residences, a prison facility, a factory/warehouse, a parking lot/garage and an unlisted location. In addition, five vehicles were reported stolen, two of which have been recovered.

15th Police District

There were 19 robberies, which yielded three arrests. Robberies on the street happened at 1300 Arrott St. (June 25), 2100 Scattergood St. (June 28) and 4500 Unruh Ave. (June 30), which involved handguns; 400 Devereaux Ave. (June 29, Christopher Brown, 27), which involved a knife; and 4500 Tyson Ave. (June 25), 4600 Friendship St. (June 28, Michael Renwrick, 18), 4700 Oxford Ave. (June 28), the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Pratt Street (June 29), 1400 E. Cheltenham Ave. (June 30), 6000 Hegerman St. (June 30), 1000 Arrott St. (July 5), 6900 Frankford Ave. (July 6) and the intersection of Arrott and Griscom streets (July 7). Robberies at businesses targeted a restaurant at 6100 Torresdale Ave. (July 7), two chain stores at 6800 Torresdale Ave. (June 26) and 6600 Roosevelt Blvd. (June 30), both of which involved handguns, and a gas station at 6300 Frankford Ave. (July 4, Tyeke Worts, 18). Robberies at private residences took place at 4100 Barnett St. (June 24) and 4100 Orchard St. (July 1), both of which involved handguns.

There were 24 aggravated assaults, which yielded 10 arrests. Assaults on the street took place at 6500 Torresdale Ave. (June 24), 2100 Orthodox St. (June 28), 3200 Brighton St. (June 28), 5000 Pennway St. (July 1) and 5200 Tulip St. (July 1), all of which involved handguns; 3600 Decatur St. (June 26, Randy Merriman, 32), 4700 Tackawanna Place (June 30, Malikah Matthews, 22) and 1800 Fillmore St. (July 6), all of which involved knives; 6700 Marsden St. (June 28, Roger Paul Becker, 52), which involved a weapon; 7300 Cottage St. (July 3), the intersection of Hellerman and Walker streets (July 4) and 2900 Benner St. (July 4), which did not involve weapons; and an assault on a police officer at 4700 Griscom St. (July 1, Xavier Mack, 28). Assaults at private residences took place at 6500 Vandike St. (June 25, Eric Diana, 27), which involved a handgun; 4300 Edgemont St. (June 26), 4000 Teesdale St. (July 3) and 1900 Pratt St. (July 7), all of which involved knives; twice at 5000 Pennway St. (July 1, Bryan Melecio, 19), which involved a weapon; and domestic assaults at 6000 Torresdale Ave. (June 24, Jahmere Franklin, 18), 1600 Comly St. (June 28, Rafael Serrano, 65), 6200 Cardiff St. (July 6) and 3300 Chippendale Ave. (July 6, Sarkioglu John, 20). Another assault took place at a food store at 5200 Torresdale Ave. (June 26, Randy Merriman, 32).

There were 15 burglaries and one attempt. Trisia A. Flores, 46, and John Hall, 48, were arrested July 2 following a burglary at a private residence at 4800 Rosalie St. Burglaries took place at private residences at 3300 Princeton Ave. (June 29), 1600 Bridge St. (June 30), 4100 Tyson Ave. (June 24), 2100 Robbins St. (June 28), 5100 Whitaker Ave. (July 3), 5000 Griscom St. (July 4), 6400 Marsden St. (June 24), 4200 Griscom St. (June 29), 6600 Charles St. (July 1) and 7000 Marsden St. (July 4), and an attempt at 6000 Horrocks St. (June 27). Other burglaries took place at an apartment house at 4600 Castor Ave. (July 4), a retail location at 5400 Oxford Ave. (June 27), an auto dealer at 7700 Frankford Ave. (June 25) and on the street at 2900 Hedley St. (June 27).

There were 109 thefts, which targeted 36 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and seven stolen vehicle tags), 36 businesses, 20 street thefts, 13 private residences, two apartment houses, a hospital and a coin-operated machine. Ten arrests were made. In addition, 42 vehicles were reported stolen, 33 of which have been recovered. Three arrests were made. ••
