Crime Log: July 8 – 21

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

2nd Police District

There were 13 robberies, which yielded two arrests. Selena Hargrove, 19, was arrested July 9 following a robbery at a chain store at 5600 Rising Sun Ave., and Sarah Foley, 32, was arrested July 18 following a robbery at a chain store at 2300 Cottman Ave. Robberies that took place on the street happened at 7000 Castor Ave. (July 12), 1500 Princeton Ave. (July 12), twice at 6400 Oakley St. (July 13) and 700 Knorr St. (July 18), all of which involved handguns; 6900 Castor Ave. (July 20), which involved a knife; and 1500 Longshore Ave. (July 11), 2100 Unruh Ave. (July 16), 700 Landis St. (July 18) and a vehicle at 6700 Castor Ave. (July 14). A private residence at 1700 Afton St. was robbed July 21.

There were eight aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults on the street included a domestic assault at 500 Van Kirk St. (July 20, Kendra Holloman, 30), assaults with handguns at 5800 Loretto Ave. (July 10) and 7400 Oxford Ave. (July 20) and assaults with other weapons at 500 Adams Ave. (July 14) and 1400 Unruh Ave. (July 17). The other assaults took place at private residences at 2200 Glenview St. (July 9, Angela Settle, 28), 900 Bridge St. (July 11) and 6700 Leonard St. (July 13, Edward Miller, 36).

There were three burglaries that targeted private residences at 1700 Bleigh Ave. (July 8), 500 Benner St. (July 10) and 600 Brill St. (July 15).

There were 92 thefts, which targeted 39 vehicles (including eight stolen vehicle tags), 37 businesses, seven street thefts, four private residences, three bicycles and two hotels/motels. Twelve arrests were made. In addition, 12 vehicles were reported stolen, 10 of which have been recovered.

7th Police District

There were three robberies, which took place at a hotel/motel at 11500 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 9), a gas station at 10900 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 13) and an unlisted location at 10100 Verree Road (July 8).

There were no reported aggravated assaults.

There were six burglaries. Private residences were burglarized at 800 Morefield Road (July 19), 700 Susquehanna Road (July 14), 2200 Solly Ave. (July 8) and 2100 Bowler St. (July 11). Apartment houses were burglarized at 100 Nandina St. (July 15) and 2200 Strahle St. (July 13).

There were 25 thefts, which targeted nine businesses, seven vehicles (including one stolen vehicle tag), five street thefts, two apartment houses, a private residence and a bicycle. Five arrests were made. In addition, five vehicles were reported stolen, three of which have been recovered. 

8th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

There were six aggravated assaults. Rich Steinard, 23, was arrested July 10 following a domestic assault at a shopping mall center, and Denisha Cooper, 29, was arrested July 18 following a domestic assault at an office building at 8700 Torresdale Ave. Other assaults took place on the street at 3200 Red Lion Road (July 18), an apartment house at 9900 Academy Road (July 16) and twice at prison facilities including an attack with a knife at 8300 State Road (July 10) and a gang assault at 8000 State Road (July 19).

The only reported burglary took place at an apartment house at 9400 Lansford St. on July 16. There was a burglary attempt at a private residence at 3200 Fuller St.

There were 54 thefts, which targeted 26 businesses, 14 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and vehicle tag), four street thefts, three private residences, two bicycles, an apartment house, a hospital, a mental institution and two unlisted locations. Three arrests were made. In addition, nine vehicles were reported stolen, eight of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were 16 robberies, which yielded three arrests. Robberies on the street took place at 4900 Large St. (July 13), the intersection of Bridge and Penn streets (July 14), 5100 Whitaker Ave. (July 14), 4700 Vista St. (July 17), 6200 Frankford Ave. (July 18) and 1500 Sellers St. (July 20), all of which involved handguns; 3200 Longshore Ave. (July 8, Santos Mejia, 36) and 2800 Magee Ave (July 16, James Schwartz, 39), both of which involved knives; 1200 Pratt St. (July 18), which involved a weapon; and 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 9), 1200 Fillmore St. (July 13) and twice at 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 14, Vernon Harris, 30), all of which did not involve weapons. Other robberies happened at a grocery store/deli at 2800 Cottman Ave. (July 21), and at private residences at 5000 Glenloch St. (July 15) and 4400 Decatur St. (July 12).

There were 29 aggravated assaults, which resulted in eight arrests. Assaults on the street took place at 5000 Whitaker Ave. (July 14), 5000 Cottage St. (July 20), three times at 4600 Frankford Ave. and once at 4900 Frankford Ave. (July 14, Robert Hall, 54), 5100 Glenloch St. (July 19), 6000 Frankford Ave. (July 10), 5700 Leonard St. (July 11), 5200 Whitaker Ave. (July 15, Christopher Ipina, 22), 5200 Glenloch St. (July 16), 3300 Vista St. (July 10), 4500 Richmond St. (July 19), 7400 Torresdale Ave. (July 17), 4600 Bleigh Ave. (July 13, Nathan Serrano, 46) and 1500 Dyre St. (July 19). Assaults at private residences took place at 1500 E. Cheltenham Ave. (July 17), 5400 Tackawanna St. (July 11), 2700 Kirkbride St. (July 17, Kathleen M. Walsh, 41), 6600 Tackawanna St. (July 21), 5100 Oxford Ave. (July 12), 4700 Longshore Ave. (July 14), 3500 Aldine St. (July 21) and 4200 Frost St. (July 21, Lisa Mansi, 33). Assaults at apartment houses happened at 5200 Oxford Ave. (July 14), 6800 Ditman St. (July 16, Malik Cooper, 21), 1800 Foulkrod Place (July 13, Angela Snowden, 51) and 4100 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 9, Jamall Green-Holmes, 28). An assault took place at a food store at 4500 Castor Ave. on July 14.

There were 13 burglaries and four attempts. Patrick Marchino, 31, was arrested July 8 following a burglary attempt at a private residence at 4600 Howell St. Burglaries at private residences happened at 4900 Knorr St. (July 11), 4900 Van Kirk St. (July 12), 1100 Foulkrod St. (July 15), 1100 Harrison St. (July 17), 4400 Richmond St. (July 12), 5000 F St. (July 20), 4700 Northwood St. (July 21) and 4200 Romain St. (July 12). Burglaries at apartment houses happened at 1300 Foulkrod St. (July 13) and 6600 Charles St. (July 16). Other burglaries took place on the street at 1300 Adams Ave. (July 8), an office building at 6300 Tacony St. (July 11) and Philadelphia city property at 3300 Robbins St. (July 14). Attempts took place at private residences at 6100 Edmund St. (July 9), 3200 Teesdale St. (July 11) and an office building at 4300 Factory St. (July 11).

There were 137 thefts, which targeted 58 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and nine stolen vehicle tags), 35 businesses, 24 street thefts (including a purse snatching), 11 private residences, six bicycles, three office buildings and a SEPTA bus/trolley. Fourteen arrests were made. In addition, 33 vehicles were reported stolen, 23 of which have been recovered. Three arrests were made.
