Police say three masked men, at least two of them armed with handguns, held up the Chipotle Mexican Grill at the Roosevelt Mall on Monday night and got away with $4,000.
At 9:50 p.m., as the restaurant was preparing to close, the suspects approached employees who were taking out the trash, authorities said. The men forced the employees inside and demanded that the manager empty the registers and safe, according to police.
The men fled the scene through the restaurant’s back door. No arrests have been made.Â
Authorities believe the same group of suspects are connected to two recent robberies at Popeyes restaurants.Â
The location at 4501 Castor Ave. in Northwood was robbed Friday around 11 p.m., and the Popeyes at 501 Adams Ave. in Crescentville was hit Saturday at 10:30 p.m., police said. In both incidents, three men stole cell phones from employees and cash.
Police said the description of the suspects is the same in all three cases. There is a Popeyes next to the Chipotle in the Roosevelt Mall.Â
