Crime log: Aug. 7, 2019

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

July 22 through Aug. 4

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were eight robberies, which resulted in three arrests. Earl White, 24, was arrested July 24 following a robbery involving a handgun on the street at 6000 Colgate St.; Shannan Crawford, 36, was arrested July 25 following a robbery involving a handgun on the street at 6700 Rising Sun Ave.; and Robert Davis, 32, was arrested July 23 following a robbery of a vehicle at 2200 Cottman Ave. Other robberies happened on the street at 6800 Oakland St. (July 27) and 6500 Frontenac St. (Aug. 2), at restaurants at 500 Adams Ave. (July 27) and 2300 Cottman Ave. (July 29) and at a private residence at 2100 Shelmire Ave. (July 23).

There were 13 aggravated assaults, which yielded four arrests. Assaults on the street happened at 500 Allengrove St. (Aug. 1), 7200 Rising Sun Ave. (July 22), 800 Fanshawe St. (July 26), 7200 Large St. (July 24), 6700 Oxford Ave. (July 31) and two assaults on police at 6100 Castor Ave. (July 28). Assaults at private residences happened at 1200 Gilham St. (Aug. 3), 6600 Rutland St. (July 25, Dean A. Miller, 52), 7200 Rutland St. (July 23, Abdulmauk Tarig, 50) and 6600 Claridge St. (July 26). Other assaults happened at a grocery store at 6500 Castor Ave. (Aug. 3, Nishea Wilkerson, 36) and a retail location at 7300 Bustleton Ave. (July 30).

There were 11 burglaries, most of which targeted private residences. Kyleen Mota, 27, was arrested July 25 following a burglary at a private residence at 1900 Shelmire Ave. Other burglaries at private residences happened at 2200 Unruh Ave. (July 28), 200 Borbeck Ave. (July 22), 7100 Oakland St. (July 22), 700 Garland St. (July 24), 5200 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 26), 7800 Brier St. (July 31), 800 Bridge St. (Aug. 1), 900 Carver St. (Aug. 4) and 1700 Guilford St. (Aug. 4). An apartment house at 500 Benner St. was burglarized July 30.

There were 97 thefts, which targeted 40 businesses, 35 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag), 12 street thefts, five bicycles, two private residences, a commercial garage, a factory/warehouse and a public school. Nine arrests were made. In addition, 14 vehicles were reported stolen, eight of which have been recovered.

7th Police District

The only reported robbery took place on the street at 1900 King Arthur Road on July 27 and involved a handgun.

There were five aggravated assaults. Michael Riley, 25, was arrested Aug. 4 following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 2300 Woodward St. Other assaults included twice on the street at 9100 Verree Road on Aug. 3, which involved a handgun, a domestic assault at a private residence at 1600 Stanwood St. on July 22 and an assault at an apartment house at 2300 Woodward St. on July 29.

Both reported robberies took place at private residences at 8300 Alma St. (Aug. 4) and 10100 Bustleton Ave. (July 27).

There were 18 thefts, which targeted seven vehicles, five businesses, three street thefts, a private residence, a bicycle and an unlisted location. Two arrests were made. In addition, five vehicles were reported stolen, three of which have been recovered.

8th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

There were four aggravated assaults. Derrick Cobb, 27, was arrested July 22 following an assault on police on the street at 8800 Cottage St. Other incidents included a domestic assault at an apartment house at 100 Thornwood Place (July 25), an assault involving a handgun on the street at 11700 Denman Road (July 31) and an assault with a weapon on the street at 9100 Marshall St. (July 30).

There were six burglaries, which took place at private residences at 8600 Jackson St. (July 31), 4400 Carwithan Road (Aug. 2) and 8500 Marsden St. (Aug. 1), apartment houses at 3400 Ashfield Lane (July 31) and 2600 Welsh Road (Aug. 1) and a gas station at 2800 Holme Ave. (Aug. 3).

There were 62 thefts, which targeted 26 businesses, 21 vehicles, five street thefts, four private residences, three bicycles, a parking lot/garage, a commercial garage and an unlisted location. In addition, six vehicles were stolen, four of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made.

15th Police District

There were 24 robberies, which resulted in five arrests. Robberies on the street included 5200 Horrocks St. (July 23), 1900 Wakeling St. (July 30), 5900 Hegerman St. (Aug. 1), 2900 Knorr St. (Aug. 3) and 5200 Glenloch St. (Aug. 3), all of which involved handguns, as well as 5100 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 23), 6800 Rowland Ave. (July 24), 4700 Loring St. (July 27, Jacques Brown, 19, and Nasir Clark, 21), 4800 Griscom St. (July 27), 4700 Robbins St. (July 27), 4200 Disston St. (July 27), 7100 Torresdale Ave. (July 30), 4200 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 2), 4000 Wells St. (Aug. 3), the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Bridge Street (Aug. 3, Anthony Griggs, 59),  2100 McKinley St. (Aug. 3), and a vehicle on 4900 Duffield St. (July 27, Ralph Jarmon, 59), all of which involved no weapons. Other robberies happened at chain food stores at 4500 Castor Ave. (July 26), which involved a handgun, and twice at 5200 Harbison Ave., which involved a knife on Aug. 4 and no weapon on Aug. 2. Robberies at private residences took place at 7100 Tulip St. (July 27) and 4600 Worth St. (July 27), which involved handguns, and 4800 Penn St. (July 24), which did not involve a weapon, and an unlisted location at 5100 Frankford Ave. (July 26, Joshua Lodge, 35).

There were 15 aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults at private residences happened at 7100 Ditman St. (July 25, Margaret Boykin, 49), twice at 6700 Vandike St. (July 30 and Aug. 3), twice at 1100 Unity St. (Aug. 4) and 4100 Stirling St. (July 29). Assaults on the street happened at 5900 Tacony St. (July 23), 1600 Benner St. (July 26), 7000 Keystone St. (July 31) and 6900 Tulip St. (Aug. 4, Rasheed Collins, 26), all of which involved handguns; 5900 Bustleton Ave. (July 23, Bruce Nicholas, 33), 7300 Cottage St. (July 27), 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 28) and 4000 Comly St. (Aug. 3), all of which involved knives; and 4600 Richmond St. (July 23), which involved another weapon. 

There were 19 burglaries and one attempt, most of which targeted private residences. These took place at 6900 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 23), 1200 Harrison St. (July 25), 1200 Haworth St. (July 27), 3300 Disston St. (July 30), twice at 4200 Tackawanna St. (Aug. 1). 5100 Ditman St. (Aug. 2), 2800 Plum St. (July 22), 2700 Kirkbride St. (July 24), 4600 Naples St. (July 22), 7100 Gillespie St. (July 31), 1900 Auth St. (July 31), 4600 Magee Ave. (July 23), 4800 Griscom St. (July 27), 6500 Vandike St. (July 29) and an attempt at 1400 Church St. (July 29). Others took place at apartment houses at 4700 Griscom St. (Aug. 2) and twice at 1300 Foulkrod St. (July 23 and 24) and a public school at 3000 Ryan Ave. (Aug. 4).

There were 102 thefts, which targeted 45 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and six stolen vehicle tags), 30 businesses, 17 street thefts, five private residences, three bicycles, an apartment house and SEPTA property. A total of 17 arrests were made. In addition, 39 vehicles were reported stolen, 27 of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made.
