Nature and history walk on Sunday
Friends of Pennypack Park will hold its monthly nature and history walk on Sunday, Aug. 18, starting at 1 p.m. Walkers will meet at the Pennypack Park Environmental Center, 8600A Verree Road.
The walk will start with exploration of the history of Verreeville, an early industrial zone along Pennypack Creek, and continue with a walk through shady woods to visit an ancient Native American campsite, with many natural features along the way.
The walk will be about 1 mile on rough trails.Â

Reading tutors needed
The AARP Foundation Experience Corps will hold information sessions at 9:30 a.m. at 1500 John F. Kennedy Blvd., third-floor conference (2 Penn Center), on the following dates: Aug. 16, 19 and 30.
The public is invited to learn about volunteer opportunities to tutor and mentor kindergarten through grade three students who need literacy support with reading in Philadelphia.

Artisan market on Saturday
The Oxford Circle Christian Community Development Association is hosting its second Artisan Market on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Exchange at Oxford Circle, 6434 Castor Ave.
Vendors participating in the market will be bringing a wide variety of items priced from $5 to $75, including decorative pottery, drawings, bags and jewelry.

St. Hubert High School Alumnae Association will host Bambies Summer Fun on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Ashburner Inn, 8400 Torresdale Ave.
Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door and include buffet, beer, wine, drink specials and DJ.

History event to be held on Saturday
The King’s Highway Trust Foundation will host the Northeast Philadelphia History and Heritage Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the historic bridge at Frankford and Solly Avenues.
The afternoon will feature live colonial-style music, appearances by Benjamin Franklin and other costumed characters, costumed colonials, a flag display by Sons of the American Revolution, writing with ink and a quill and artifacts. Vendors are welcome.Â
