Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in August inside his Rhawnhurst home.
Jerome R. Martin, 27, of West Philadelphia, and Jonathan Collins, 20, of the 1800 block of Megargee Street in Bell’s Corner, were taken into custody last week, police said.
Authorities allege Martin and Collins were the two suspects who broke into a property on the 1900 block of Stanwood Street, ran up to the second floor of the house and shot Jeffrey Sandine around 8 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Sandine, a Northeast High School graduate, was pronounced dead at the hospital less than an hour later. He left behind his girlfriend, his newborn son, his mother and other family members, according to his obituary.
Martin was charged with murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy and various weapons violations. He was on house arrest at the time of the killing after pleading guilty in June to illegal possession of a gun, according to court records.
In addition to murder, Collins was charged with multiple gun offenses.
Both men are being held without bail at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on State Road. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 18. ••
