Crime Log: Aug. 19 – Sept. 1

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were 13 robberies, most of which took place on the street. Robberies involving handguns took place on the street at 5900 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 26), 600 Anchor St. (Aug. 27) and 500 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Aug. 28); robberies involving other weapons took place at the intersection of Cottman and Bustleton avenues (Aug. 25) and 6400 Bustleton Ave. (Sept. 1); and robberies not involving weapons took place at 5300 Howland St. (Aug. 20), 5600 Rising Sun Ave. (Aug. 20), 1500 Cottman Ave. (Aug. 21), 400 Sanger St. (Aug. 22), 1700 Glendale Ave. (Aug. 23), 2100 Loney St. (Aug. 29) and 7100 Kindred St. (Aug. 31). A mini market at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. was robbed Aug. 19.

There were nine aggravated assaults, which yielded two arrests. Ernest Spann, 55, was arrested following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 6800 Lynford St. (Aug. 24) and Khaleeq Ames, 28, was arrested Aug. 23 following a domestic assault at a private residence at 1200 Hale St. Other assaults took place on the street at 800 Carver St. (Aug. 20) and 1200 Hale St. (Aug. 24), both of which involved handguns, 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 20) and 6600 Castor Ave. (Sept. 1), both of which involved knives or cuts, 400 Sanger St. (Aug. 22), which involved a weapon, and an assault at 5700 Colgate St. (Sept. 1). 

There were seven burglaries, which yielded two arrests. Dejahvaun Vital, 23, was arrested Aug. 20 following a burglary at a private residence at 5900 Agusta St. and Tyreek Collier, 23, was arrested Aug. 19 following a burglary at a private residence at 6500 Large St. Other burglaries took place at private residences at 900 Carver St. (Aug. 20) and 800 Scattergood St. (Sept. 1), apartment houses at 6500 Bustleton Ave. (Aug. 28) and 800 Brill St. (Aug. 28) and a retail location at 5900 Rising Sun Ave. (Aug. 21).

There were 73 thefts, which targeted 33 vehicles (including 10 stolen vehicle tags), 21 businesses, eight street thefts, four bicycles, three apartment houses, two private residences, a hospital and an unlisted location. Four arrests were made. In addition, nine vehicles were reported stolen, and 17 were recovered. One arrest was made.

7th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

There were four aggravated assaults. Ruqayah Pollard, 37, was arrested Aug. 22 following a domestic assault on the street at 2100 Rhawn St., and William O’Neil, 52, was arrested following an assault at an apartment house at 10700 Lockart Road. Other assaults included a domestic assault on the street at 9900 Wistaria St. (Aug. 24) and an assault involving a weapon at 500 Jeanes St. (Aug. 27).

There were four burglaries and one burglary attempt. They took place at private residences at 8300 Alma St. (Aug. 21) and 1000 Grant Ave., an apartment house at 8300 Alma St. (Aug. 22) and at a storage facility at 9700 Cowden St. (Aug. 23). The burglary attempt targeted a private residence at 8000 Burholme Ave. on Aug. 27.

There were 35 thefts, which targeted 16 vehicles, 12 businesses, three apartment houses, a bicycle, a street theft, a nursing/retirement home and an unlisted location. Three arrests were made. In addition, four vehicles were recovered.

8th Police District

There were four robberies. Tameer Bolger, 19, was arrested Aug. 23 following a robbery at a restaurant at 2400 Grant Ave. Other robberies took place on the street at 9400 Lansford St. (Aug. 20), a chain food store at 3200 Byberry Road (Aug. 21), which involved a handgun, and a clothing store at 9100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 23).

There were eight aggravated assaults, which yielded three arrests. Tameer Bolger, 19, was arrested Aug. 23 following two assaults on police at a shopping mall at 2400 Grant Ave. James Hunsberger, 24, was arrested Aug. 29 following an assault on the street at 2800 Tolbut St., and Jean Debora Alberto, 54, was arrested Aug. 24 following a domestic assault at a private residence at 9400 Frankford Ave. Three assaults took place on the street at 2700 Northview Road (Aug. 20) and a domestic assault took place at an apartment house at 8200 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 22).

The three burglaries took place at private residences at 8800 Blue Grass Road (Aug. 26), 8800 Brocklehurst St. (Aug. 26) and an unlisted location at 9800 Blue Grass Road (Aug. 22). There was also a burglary attempt at a private residence at 8700 Jackson St. (Aug. 21).

There were 48 thefts, which targeted 22 businesses, 15 vehicles (including four stolen vehicle tags), six street thefts, a bicycle, a private residence, an athletic field/playground, a parking lot/garage and a church/synagogue. In addition, five vehicles were recovered.

15th Police District

There were 31 robberies, which yielded three arrests. Robberies took place on the street at 5000 F St. (Aug. 21), 2300 Orthodox St. (Aug. 25) and the intersection of Cheltenham Avenue and Charleston Street. (Sept. 1), all of which involved handguns; 5200 Darrah St. (Aug. 22), 6000 Cottage St. (Aug. 24), 6800 Hegerman St. (Aug. 27) and 4400 Paul St. (Aug. 29, Terrell Jones, 31), all of which involved knives; 4000 Wells St. (Aug. 27) and 4900 Frankford Ave. (Sept. 1), which involved weapons; and 4900 Frankford Ave. (Sept. 1), 4200 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 21), 5100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 21), 1500 Pratt St. (Aug. 22), 5100 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 22, David Hernandez, 34), 4700 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 23), 2900 Lardner St. (Aug. 23), 6700 Cottage St. (Aug. 25), 6200 Bustleton Ave. (Aug. 27), 4000 Unruh Ave. (Aug. 27), 6100 Torresdale Ave. (Aug. 29), the intersection of Cheltenham Avenue and Vandike Street (Aug. 29), 5200 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 30), 6500 Ditman St. (Sept. 1) and a purse snatching at 5800 Hegerman St. (Aug. 24), all of which did not involve weapons. Vehicles were robbed while parked at 6300 Bustleton Ave. (Aug. 27), 5300 Sylvester St. (Sept. 1), 3000 Brighton St. (Aug. 22) and 4000 Torresdale Ave. (Sept. 1). Other robberies took place twice at a chain store at 7900 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 19 and 28), a private residence at the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Sellers Street (Aug. 24) and a mini market at 4600 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 19, Imhotep Reed, 30).

There were 17 aggravated assaults, which yielded eight arrests. Assaults happened on the street at 1800 Fillmore St. (Aug. 20), 5800 Sylvester St. (Aug. 26), 1100 Overington St. (Aug. 30) and the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Benner Street (Sept. 1), all of which involved handguns; 1600 Fillmore St. (Aug. 22, William James, 42), 4600 Benner St. (Aug. 28), the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Pratt Street (Aug. 29) and 4900 Unruh St. (Aug. 30), all of which involved weapons; 3500 Vista St. (Aug. 25, Arnetta Ferguson, 53), which did not involve a weapon; a domestic assault at 1700 Bridge St. (Aug. 24); and assaults on police or law at 5200 Torresdale Ave. (Aug. 19, Roberto Sanchez, 22) and 7900 State Road (Aug. 24, Ashley Maisenhelder, 30). Other assaults took place at private residences at 4200 Frost St. (Aug. 26, John Benedetto, 59), 4300 Penn St. (Aug. 20, Darryl Jones, 39), 6600 Glenloch St. (Aug. 27, Carey Jessie, 25) and 5100 Pennway St. (Aug. 19, Nelson Segura-Delorbe, 50) and a bar/cafe at 7400 Torresdale Ave. (Aug. 28).

There were nine burglaries. Private residences were burglarized at 4700 Griscom St. (Aug. 21), 1200 Wakeling St. (Aug. 29), 1300 Arrott St. (Aug. 19), 1600 Bridge St. (Aug. 23, Jose Castro, 39), 4300 Higbee St. (Aug. 30) and 6300 Ditman St. (Aug. 29). Other burglaries took place at a bar at 7400 State Road (Aug. 26), a church/synagogue at 2600 Fillmore St. (Aug. 25) and a retail location at 1500 Pratt St. (Aug. 25, Demitrious Brown, 31).

There were 85 thefts, which targeted 26 businesses, 24 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags), 18 street thefts (including a pickpocketing), 10 private residences, four bicycles, a cargo theft, an athletic field/playground and SEPTA property. Nine arrests were made. In addition, 20 vehicles were stolen and 25 vehicles were recovered. Two arrests were made.
