A man is in critical condition after he was electrocuted while allegedly trying to steal wiring or other building materials from the former Nabisco bakery in Somerton.
Police responded to the site, on Roosevelt Boulevard near Byberry Road, at 2:29 a.m. Monday. After gaining entry to the property, officers found a man in his 40s lying by a ladder.
Authorities believe the man was electrocuted while cutting electrical lines. There was a power outage in the neighborhood as a result, police said.
The man was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
An investigation is ongoing with Northeast Detectives. ••
