Man shot during attempted robbery in Frankford

Three men shot a 36-year-old man during an apparent attempted robbery early Thursday morning.

A man was shot early Thursday morning during an apparent attempted robbery in Frankford, police said.

Officers responded to the 5100 block of Akron Street around 2:15 a.m. and found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the stomach. 

He told police he had been approached by three men around the corner, on the 5300 block of Saul Street, who tried to rob him. The suspects shot him in the stomach, and nothing was taken, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, and police were unable to locate the scene of the crime. The incident is under investigation by Northeast Detectives. ••
