Update (10/26): Maple Shade police on Friday night found Michael A. Edwards on a park bench in Fox Chase. He was taken to the hospital for a wellness check and reunited with his mother, Lt. Jeff Hoch said.
Police in New Jersey believe a teenager who has been missing for several days rode his bicycle over the bridge into Northeast Philadelphia.
Michael A. Edwards, 14, was last seen Monday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. in Maple Shade, New Jersey, on his gray “Haro” bike with purple grips.
Lt. Jeff Hoch, of the Maple Shade Police Department, said authorities have surveillance footage of a boy they believe to be Michael riding over the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on Monday.
Michael used to live in Holmesburg, and Hoch said police believe he might be in the area of his old house on the 4500 block of Shelmire Avenue. Maple Shade detectives canvassed the neighborhood Friday but did not uncover any leads.
It’s not the first time Michael has been reported missing. In April, Philadelphia police put out an alert, and the Northeast Detective Division asked for information on his whereabouts. He later returned home.
Maple Shade police described Michael as a 5-foot-8 boy who weighs 140 pounds. He is mixed-race with green eyes and curly brown hair, authorities added. ••
