Police investigating bank robbery at Rhawnhurst ACME

A man used a demand note Friday to rob the Citizens Bank at the Bleigh Avenue ACME Market.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a bank Friday inside of an ACME Market in Rhawnhurst.

The robbery occurred around noon at the Citizens Bank branch located at the ACME on Bleigh Avenue, police said. After approaching the counter, the suspect handed over a demand note and threatened the teller, investigators said.

He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen fleeing south through the store’s parking lot.

Police described the suspect as a black man between the ages of 18 and 25 who is 5-feet 6-inches or 5-feet 7-inches tall with a thin build and a black goatee. He was wearing a red Gap hooded sweatshirt, black hat and black cloth gloves at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information about the suspect or robbery is asked to call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. ••
