John Birch Society meeting Tuesday
The John Birch Society will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, Rhawn and Ditman streets.
There will be presentations on An Overview of America and Dollars & Sense. Refreshments will be provided.

Do you qualify for income tax credit?
The city launched its awareness campaign to make residents aware of the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit.
More than 45,000 residents are estimated to be eligible for EITC but don’t apply, leaving more than $113 million in tax credits unclaimed. The city helps determine eligibility and guide them through the filing process.
Qualifying residents must have an income from $15,570 to $55,952 depending on whether they are single, head of household or married as well as the number of qualifying children. They must be 25-65 or have a qualifying child and have a valid Social Security number.
EITC’s Northeast Super Site is located at 7300 Bustleton Ave. and is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It features Albanian, Turkish, Russian and Spanish speakers. ••
Neil Diamond tribute at Knights of Columbus
The Regina Coeli Council Knights of Columbus, 9621 James St., will host a fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Frank DeRosa will perform a tribute to Neil Diamond.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., followed by the show at 8. Tickets cost $40 and include open bar and buffet.

Film festival on March 12
The After Nightfall Film Festival, presented by Back2Ninety9 Productions, will take place on March 12 at Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center, 7 Lock St., in Manayunk.
The festival showcases three short films directed by Philadelphia-area independent filmmakers. It opens with Ultra-Girl by director Chris R. Notarile and Saturday the 14th by director Zay Rodriguez, followed by the world premiere of The Flower People by director Charles A. Christman III.
“We are excited for attendees to experience these three amazing short films,” said Christman, the festival organizer. “The festival pays tribute to the horror/thriller genre, with each director bringing their own style to the craft of filmmaking.”
Guests can walk the “Red Carpet” from 6 to 7 p.m. The screening will begin at 7:15 p.m. A meet and greet with the cast and crew will follow the final film. Admission is free for all attendees.

Designer Bag Bingo at St. Hubert
St. Hubert High Alumnae Association will sponsor Designer Bag Bingo on Sunday, March 8, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the school cafeteria, Torresdale and Cottman avenues.
Doors open at noon.

St. Hubert holding basket raffle
St. Hubert High School, Torresdale and Cottman avenues, will be hosting Baskets for Bambies on Saturday, April 4, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the cafeteria.
There will be more than 75 baskets and other high-end prizes. It’s an all-ages event, and people need not be present to win.
Admission is free. Soda, water and soft pretzels will be provided. Visitors are welcome to BYOB, food and snacks. DJ Mary Clifford will be playing tunes. ••
Enter bean bag toss/corn hole tournament
The Northeast Catholic Alumni Association will sponsor a Bean Bag Toss/Corn Hole Tournament on Saturday, April 25, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Fireman’s Hall Museum, 2500 Lefevre St., in Bridesburg.
The cost is $50 per player or $35 for non-players. All proceeds benefit the alumni association.
There will be prizes to the top two teams. Admission includes draft beer, wine, soda and hot buffet. The event will include a cash bar, 50/50 and a raffle for a set of Northeast Catholic corn hole boards.

Benefit for cancer patient
A beef-and-beer fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 25, from 7 to 11 p.m. at St. Anne School hall, Memphis and Tucker streets, for Michael McKee, who is battling a rare form of appendix cancer.
The married father of four Catholic school children is out of work from his job at Philadelphia Gas Works due to his illness.
Tickets cost $35 and include a buffet, draft beer and a disc jockey.

Support adoption, get a free Frosty
Individuals are encouraged to buy a Frosty key tag for $2, with the money donated to the Center City-based Adoption Center.
The tags are available through March 1.
Anyone purchasing a tag can use it at Wendy’s throughout 2020 for a free Jr. Frosty with every purchase.
The Center will use the funds to help find families for the hundreds of children in the tri-state area who live in foster care and wait to be adopted.

The inductees will be former La Salle University basketball player Craig Conlin; coach and youth league organizer Lou DeCree; retired longtime women’s college basketball official Dennis DeMayo; former Father Judge basketball coach Bill Fox; Division I football official Joe Griesser; Joe Hand, a leading TV distributor of closed-circuit and pay-per-view boxing; Mike Hawkins, the PIAA District 12 chairman and former football coach and athletic director at Germantown High School; Steve Kane, the longtime former boys basketball coach at University City who led the Jaguars to the 1995 Public League title; Mike Koplove, who pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Indians; Kathy Lonergan, a Division I women’s basketball referee; Dave Mastropietro, a baseball star at La Salle University; and Dr. Anthony Salem, a former minor league baseball player.
