Mayfair Elementary School’s Vincent Vega and Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush’s Uzoma Nwoga each won first place in the Philadelphia Student Art Contest.
The contest is sponsored by the Philadelphia Water Department and the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary. Students were encouraged to submit original drawings that highlight the relationship Philadelphians have with their waterways and the shared responsibility for keeping them clean.
Vincent won in the third- through fifth-grade category. Uzoma won the high school competition.
Other local winners were Fox Chase Elementary School’s Natalia Mitic (third place, kindergarten through second grade); Fox Chase Elementary’s Avani Kadariya (second place, third to fifth grade); Mayfair Elementary’s Darlatia Nieves (third place, third to fifth grade); Archbishop Ryan’s Carly Marquess (second place, high school); and Northeast High’s Marta Petryshchak (third place, high school). ••
