Man wanted for robbing bank inside Acme

The FBI/Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the man responsible for the robbery last week of the Citizens Bank branch inside the Acme supermarket, 2101 Cottman Ave.

At about 2:18 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, the man approached the bank counter, where he handed a teller a demand note and a hoax bomb device. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the store.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, baseball cap with white bill, black shoes with white soles and a mask over his lower face.

The man is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect is urged to call the Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000.

A reward is being offered for information leading to this suspect’s capture; tipsters can remain anonymous. ••
