Crime log: June 10, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

May 25 through June 7

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were four robberies, all of which took place on the street. These happened at 6400 Akron St. (May 25) with a handgun, 1600 Hellerman St. (June 5) with a handgun, 2300 Rhawn St. (May 29) and at a vehicle parked at 7400 Calvert St. (June 1) with a handgun.

There were nine aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults on the street happened at 1300 Gilham St. (June 1), 1300 Elbridge St. (June 3, Lewis Mendez, 26), both of which involved handguns; 6200 Langdon St. (May 30), which involved a knife; and 7700 Oxford Ave. (June 5), which involved no weapon. Assaults at private residences happened at 6700 Rutland St. (June 6, Mohammad Abbas, 22), 500 Alcott St. (May 31) and 7100 Oakland St. (May 27, Adrian Torres, 19). Other assaults happened at an apartment house at 1600 Rhawn St. (June 7) and an assault on police at a shopping center/mall at 2300 Cottman Ave. (May 31, Aissata Thomas, 24).

There were 87 burglaries, which targeted 11 drugstores, eight food stores, four auto dealers, three private residences, three restaurants, three clothing stores, two cleaners/Laundromats, two gas stations, two auto parts stores, an apartment house, a mini market, a storage facility, a liquor store, a jewelry store, a cash checking agency and 43 uncategorized retail locations. Nineteen arrests were made.

There were 52 thefts, which targeted 20 vehicles (including six stolen vehicle tags), 18 businesses, 10 street thefts, three apartment houses and a private residence. Six arrests were made. In addition, 13 vehicles were reported stolen, and nine were recovered.

7th Police District

Marcus West, 19, was arrested May 29 following a robbery at a gas station at 9000 Roosevelt Blvd. with a handgun.

Two aggravated assaults took place on the street at 2100 Benson St. on May 29 and June 2. Robert Perez, 40, was arrested following the June 2 incident. Amanda Rivera, 26, was arrested June 1 following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 800 Avon Road.

There were 15 burglaries, which targeted three drug stores, two department stores, two bars/cafes, two private residences, an office building, an auto dealer, a factory/warehouse and three chain retail locations. Three arrests were made.

There were 20 thefts, which targeted 13 vehicles (including six stolen vehicle tags), four businesses, two bicycles and an ATM.

8th Police District

There were five robberies. Marcus West, 19, was arrested May 29 following robberies at a chain store at 2900 Welsh Road and on the street at 2500 Grant Ave. with a handgun. Douglas Webster, 40, was arrested May 28 following the robbery of a department store at 9700 Roosevelt Blvd. with a knife. Other robberies took place on the street at 8300 Torresdale Ave. (May 30) and an apartment house at 8700 Cottage St. (June 4).

There were eight aggravated assaults. Douglas Webster, 40, was arrested May 28 following an assault on police at a parking lot/garage at 9500 Blue Grass Road. Malik Holloway, 28, was arrested June 2 following an assault on police on the street at 9200 Convent Ave. Other assaults took place at private residences at 4200 Lackland Place (June 2), 9200 Academy Road (May 28), on the street at 2800 Holme Ave. (June 7) with a handgun and three times at prison facilities at 8200 State Road (May 29).

There were 19 burglaries, which targeted four clothing stores, two department stores, two shopping centers/malls, a food store, a hardware store, a liquor store, a restaurant and seven uncategorized retail locations. Thirteen arrests were made.

There were 34 thefts, which targeted 15 businesses, 12 vehicles (including six stolen vehicle tags), three street thefts, two bicycles, a private residence and an apartment house. Five arrests were made.

15th Police District

There were 16 robberies, which resulted in two arrests. Marcus West, 19, was arrested May 29 following a robbery of a food store at 7900 Frankford Ave. and of a vehicle parked at 5500 Tulip St. with a handgun. Rickey Williford, 34, was arrested May 28 following a robbery on the street at Unruh Avenue and New State Road with a handgun. Robberies on the street with handguns took place at 5200 Oakland St. (May 30), 1100 Sanger St. (May 30), 5000 Frankford Ave. (May 31), 6800 Gillespie St. (June 1) and 2100 Shallcross St. (June 3); an incident with a knife happened at 4700 Disston St. (May 28); and robberies with no weapons happened at the intersection of Penn and Arrott streets (May 29), 1300 E. Cheltenham Ave. (June 1) and 5000 Homestead St. (June 2). Other robberies took place at vehicles parked at 4900 Horrocks St. (May 31) and the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Robbins Street (June 1), a retail location at 5800 Torresdale Ave. (May 28) and public housing at 1900 Foulkrod Place (June 2), all of which involved firearms. 

There were 18 aggravated assaults, which resulted in five arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 6900 Hegerman St. (May 25), 1500 Womrath St. (May 26), 4800 Oxford Ave. (June 1), the intersection of Margaret and Worth streets (June 1), 1700 Bridge St. (June 2), 900 Wakeling St. (June 4) and 4300 Richmond St. (June 4, George Kinter, 26); assaults with knives happened at 6200 Farnsworth St. (May 25), 1500 Pratt St. (May 29), 2700 Kirkbride St. (June 1) and 1300 Dyre St. (June 2); a domestic assault at 4200 Paul St. (May 29) and an assault on police happened at 6600 Walker St. (June 1). Assaults at private residences happened at 4700 Marple St. (June 2, Alberto Colon, 36), 2100 Larue St. (May 26, Alexjandra Dejesus, 40), 7600 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 31, Muhmmad Shareea, 24), 6300 Revere St. (June 3) and 1300 Anchor St. (June 4, Gregory Marrow, 51). 

There were 66 burglaries, which targeted 30 uncategorized retail locations, six drugstores, four private residences (and five attempts), four auto dealers, three food stores, two gas stations, two pawn shops, two street thefts, a grocery store/deli, a barber shop/beauty salon, a liquor store, a restaurant, a cleaner/Laundromat and three unlisted locations. Forty-five arrests were made.

There were 69 thefts, which targeted 34 vehicles (including two stolen phones and six stolen vehicle tags), 14 street thefts (including a purse snatching), 12 businesses, six private residences, a bicycle, a storage facility and an unlisted location. Ten arrests were made.
