Crime log: Aug. 19, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Aug. 3 through 16

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were six robberies, which took place on the street at 600 Garland St. (Aug. 3) with a knife, 6100 Castor Ave. (Aug. 11) with a weapon, 700 Mayfair St. (Aug. 4) and 1400 Lardner St. (Aug. 10). Other robberies happened at a chain food store at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. (Aug. 11) with a handgun and a private residence at 6400 Large St. on Aug. 13.

There were 13 aggravated assaults, resulting in three arrests. Incidents on the street happened at 6900 Sylvester St. (Aug. 3), 300 Passmore St. (Aug. 6, Theresa Teti, 59), 5800 Colgate St. (Aug. 9, Niles Brown, 20), all of which involved handguns; an incident with a weapon at 4200 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 13); an incident with no weapon at 600 Carver St. (Aug. 9); and two assaults on police at 800 Brill St. (Aug. 8, Qua Hanible, 40). Other assaults happened at private residences at 900 Pratt St. (Aug. 14) and 6000 Castor Ave. (Aug. 9), an apartment house at 7000 Rising Sun Ave. (Aug. 14), a retail location at 2300 Cottman Ave. (Aug. 14), a bar at 6500 Castor Ave. (Aug. 11) and a motel at 7600 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 13).

There were six burglaries, which resulted in two arrests. Roberto Martins, 47, was arrested Aug. 10 following the burglary of a private residence at 1300 Devereaux Ave., and Tyrell Griffin, 20, was arrested Aug. 6 following the burglary of a department store at 5900 Rising Sun Ave. Other burglaries happened at private residences at 1300 Friendship St. (Aug. 4), 400 Chandler St. (Aug. 5) and 1300 Princeton Ave. (Aug. 6), and at an apartment house at 800 Foulkrod St. (Aug. 4).

There were 41 thefts, which targeted 15 vehicles, 13 businesses, eight street thefts, three private residences, an apartment house and a bicycle.

7th Police District

The two reported robberies took place on the street at 8300 Verree Road on Aug. 6 and an unlisted location at 11500 Roosevelt Blvd. on Aug. 9, and both involved handguns.

The only reported aggravated assault took place on the street at 12000 Roosevelt Blvd. on Aug. 10.

An apartment house at 9800 Verree Road was burglarized Aug. 11. 

There were 35 thefts, which targeted 14 vehicles, 11 businesses, four bicycles, two street thefts, two apartment houses, a private residence and an unlisted location. One arrest was made.

8th Police District

Robberies took place on the street at 9900 Frankford Ave. on Aug. 13 and at a vehicle parked at 3300 Welsh Road on Aug. 10.

There were five aggravated assaults, which took place on the street at 1700 Franklin Mills Circle (Aug. 4), 8500 Hegerman St. (Aug. 11) and 8700 Jackson St. (Aug. 12), all of which involved handguns, and a domestic assault at 8800 Hargrave St. (Aug. 13). An assault involving a knife took place at a private residence at 8800 Brous Ave. on Aug. 14.

There were four burglaries, happening twice at an apartment house at 8000 Walker St. (Aug. 6), a private residence at 9300 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 11) and an unlisted location at 9100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 13). There was also a burglary attempt at an apartment house at 2500 Welsh Road on Aug. 3.

There were 28 thefts, which targeted 13 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags), nine businesses, two pickpocketings, two apartment houses, a private residence and a street theft. One arrest was made. In addition, six vehicles were reported stolen, and six were recovered. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were 10 robberies. Joseph Davis, 19, was arrested Aug. 7 following a robbery involving a handgun on the street at 4000 Sheffield Ave. Other robberies on the street took place at 6400 Walker St. (Aug. 7) with a handgun, 6900 Torresdale Ave. (Aug. 10) with a knife, 2800 Sellers St. (Aug. 5), 4600 Van Kirk St. (Aug. 6), 1300 Arrott St. (Aug. 9) and vehicles parked at 6500 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 4) and 7000 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 10). Other robberies took place at a chain store at 6100 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 11) and a private residence at 3600 Hartel Ave. (Aug. 12) with a handgun.

There were 27 aggravated assaults, which resulted in 10 arrests. Assaults on the street involving handguns happened at 1600 Conklin St. (Aug. 3), 2900 Cottman Ave. (Aug. 4, Jose Alomar, 26, and Maria Paulino, 25), 5200 Oxford Ave. (Aug. 7, Naja Allen, 24), 1800 Pratt St. (Aug. 9), twice at 4700 Mulberry St. (Aug. 9, Chiara Brown, 29), 4100 Gilham St. (Aug. 9), 5200 Torresdale Ave. (Aug. 10), 4900 Magee Ave. (Aug. 13) and 3300 Princeton Ave. (Aug. 14); an assault with a knife happened at 7900 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 10); assaults with other weapons happened at 2900 Orthodox St. (Aug. 4), 2900 Jenks St. (Aug. 8), 2900 Orthodox St. (Aug. 9), 1900 Bridge St. (Aug. 9), 2900 Benner St. (Aug. 11), the intersection of Wellington and Hawthorne streets (Aug. 15, Haldrin Reyes-Restituyo, 29) and 6600 Montague St. (Aug. 16); and domestic assaults at the intersection of Marsden and Knorr streets (Aug. 5) and 1600 Bridge St. (Aug. 6). Assaults at private residences included domestic assaults at 4600 Melrose St. (Aug. 8, Anthony Steckley, 19), 5100 Leiper St. (Aug. 15), 5100 Akron St. (Aug. 7, Chanel Phillips, 33), 4800 Princeton Ave. (Aug. 16, Yovni Chesis, 25), an incident with a handgun at 5300 Penn St. (Aug. 10), an incident with a knife at 6600 Charles St. (Aug. 4, Annie Jackson, 58) and an incident with another weapon at 1500 Harrison St. (Aug. 4, Carla Harris, 29).

There were nine burglaries, which took place at private residences at 2100 Kennedy St. (Aug. 4, Wayne Warren, 24), 6200 Algard St. (Aug. 14), 4800 Tackawanna St. (Aug. 14), 3100 Robbins St. (Aug. 7), 4600 Marple St. (Aug. 9) and 7300 Crabtree St. (Aug. 5). Other incidents took place at apartment houses at 3200 Magee Ave. (Aug. 6) and 4100 Longshore Ave. (Aug. 9), and a rooming house/shelter at 2600 Buckius St. (Aug. 7). 

There were 65 thefts, which targeted 33 vehicles (including 12 stolen vehicle tags), 14 street thefts, nine businesses, five private residences, two bicycles, an apartment house and a rooming house/shelter. Three arrests were made. In addition, 20 vehicles were reported stolen, and 18 were recovered. Three arrests were made.
