Hessert Chevrolet teamed up with GM Financial on Saturday to fill 400 bookbags with school supplies.
Some of the bookbags went to customers and others who stopped by the car dealership, 6301 Roosevelt Blvd.
The rest went to Cradles to Crayons to distribute to low-income families.
The all-ages backpacks were filled with folders, glue sticks, composition books, spiral notebooks, rulers, crayons, pencils, pencil cases, erasers, hand-written messages and pencil sharpeners.
All on hand were treated to pizza, Gatorade, soda and water.
“We’re trying to do something nice for the community,” said owner Tom Hessert. “We’re excited to be a part of it.” ••
