Dixie and Birk want loving families

Dixie is a sweet shepherd mix, about 3 years old. She is housetrained, walks perfectly on a leash and is crate trained, although she is well behaved enough to not require a crate.

Dixie is a low-energy girl and would be a great fit for a low-energy household. She is happy laying around with her people and going for slow walks. She can live with another low-energy dog.

Dixie is overbred by her previous owners and is still quite skinny, about 60 pounds. She is gentle and melts when you show her love.

Email info@homeatlastdogrescue.com to meet Dixie. ••

Birk is an active boy who was found in a box in a park. His time before coming to Northeast Animal Rescue is unknown. Birk was taken to NAR’s exotics vet, where he received an exam and a long-overdue nail trim.

Birk, 12 months old, is attentive and longs for attention but he is hand shy. His favorite treat is a piece of a bell pepper — which he gets daily. He will need a family who is willing to spend time and get him used to human touch and love.

For more information, to fill out an application, to volunteer at one of Northeast Animal Rescue’s three Pet Valu locations or to submit your rescue pet’s picture for possible use in a 2021 calendar, visit nar.rescuegroups.org. ••
