The Kids-N-Hope Foundation has achieved the milestone of having donated $2 million since its inception to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Kids-N-Hope Foundation raises funds to support the music therapy program at CHOP as well as pediatric therapy programs at other local hospitals. The foundation reached this milestone in conjunction with its annual contribution to CHOP. The foundation donated $265,000 to CHOP for its 2020 contribution.
At CHOP, the foundation provides financial support for the music therapy program, which is designed to effect positive change in the psychological, physical, cognitive and social functioning of individuals with health or educational problems.
“American Heritage and the Foundation pledged to make a difference in the lives of children almost 25 years ago, and today, upon reaching this $2 million milestone, we are prouder than ever of the work done by our associates, members and foundation supporters who have helped us reach this outstanding achievement,” said Bruce K. Foulke, founder and chairman of the Kids-N-Hope Foundation and president and CEO of American Heritage Credit Union. “Credit unions exist because of the concept of people helping people, and ours was one of the very first to expand this to include the charitable foundation model.”
In 1996, American Heritage Credit Union became the first credit union in the country to form its own charitable organization. After Foulke visited the Seashore House at CHOP, he and the American Heritage board of directors determined that the credit union would pledge to become a permanent benefactor of local pediatric causes, and thus the Kids-N-Hope Foundation was created to support CHOP’s needs, starting with the music therapy program.
“Our music therapy program would not exist without partners like American Heritage Credit Union’s Kids-N-Hope Foundation,” said Monica Taylor Lotty, executive vice president and chief development officer at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation. “Their support helps our Child Life team provide the best care possible to meet the unique needs of our patients as they cope with illness, treatment and the overall healthcare experience.
