Crime log: Jan. 12, 2021

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Dec. 21 through Jan. 3

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were six robberies, most of which took place on the street. These happened at 5500 Hill Creek Circle (Dec. 21), 2600 Cottman Ave. (Dec. 26) and 2100 Fanshawe St. (Dec. 27), all of which involved handguns, at 7100 Lynford St. (Dec. 29) with another weapon and at 600 Mayfair St. (Jan. 2) with no weapon. A drugstore at 5600 Rising Sun Ave. was robbed with a handgun on Dec. 27. 

There were 14 aggravated assaults. Assaults on the street included incidents with handguns at 900 Brill St. (Dec. 21), 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. (Dec. 22), 5600 Rising Sun Ave. (Dec. 23), 1500 Hellerman St. (Dec. 25), the intersection of Faunce and Pennway streets (Dec. 31), 7000 Lynford St. (Dec. 31) and 7800 Horrocks St. (Dec. 31), an incident with a knife at 6100 Frontenac St. (Dec. 27), an incident with another weapon at 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. (Dec. 22) and a domestic assault at 1500 Cottman Ave. (Dec. 30). Assaults at private residences included one with a weapon at 7300 Dungan Road (Dec. 29) and domestic assaults at 5500 Hill Creek Circle (Dec. 23) and 1200 Glenview St. (Dec. 31), and an assault with a weapon took place at a food store at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. on Dec. 23.

There were five burglaries. Steven Rowe, 59, was arrested Dec. 22 following the burglary of a state liquor store at 2100 Cottman Ave. Other burglaries targeted private residences at 6000 Frontenac St. (Dec. 22), 1300 Van Kirk St. (Dec. 23) and 1200 Alcott St. (Jan. 1), and a chain food store at 700 Adams Ave. (Dec. 21). There was a burglary attempt at a private residence at 500 Kerper St. on Dec. 28.

There were 66 thefts, which targeted 34 businesses, 25 vehicles (including six stolen vehicle tags), four street thefts, two private residences and an apartment house. Seven arrests were made.

7th Police District

A chain retail store at 8300 Bustleton Ave. was robbed with a handgun on Jan. 2.

There were two aggravated assaults. Mike Emborellis, 19, was arrested Jan. 1 following an assault with a handgun at an apartment house at 500 Avon St. A domestic assault occurred at an apartment house at 13600 Philmont Ave. on Jan. 3.

The three reported burglaries took place at a private residence at 800 Centennial Square (Dec. 31), an apartment house at 10200 Bustleton Ave. (Dec. 22) and a store at 10000 Roosevelt Blvd. (Dec. 22).

There were 32 thefts, which targeted 15 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags), 15 businesses and two street thefts. Two arrests were made.

8th Police District

There were four robberies. James Mullins, 27, was arrested Dec. 21 following a robbery at a food store at 2500 Grant Ave. with a knife. Other robberies took place on the street with handguns at 2600 Welsh Road (Dec. 28), 8100 Leon St. (Jan. 1) and 9400 Ashton Road (Dec. 30). 

There were nine aggravated assaults. Joseph West Jr. was arrested Jan. 1 following an assault with a weapon at a private residence at 3500 Nottingham Lane. Other assaults took place on the street at 2800 Michael Road (Jan. 3) with a handgun, 8100 Ditman St. (Dec. 30) with a weapon and 12600 Ramer Road (Dec. 21) with no weapon; at private residences at 12400 Barbary Road (Dec. 27) with a handgun and 12200 Barbary Road (Jan. 2) with a knife; at apartment houses at 4400 Tolbut St. (Dec. 27) with a handgun and at 8300 Frankford Ave. (Dec. 26) with a weapon; and at a prison facility at 8200 State Road (Dec. 27).

There were seven burglaries. Nicholas Kenny, 34, was arrested Dec. 31 following a burglary at a private residence at 9900 Crestmont Ave. More burglaries at private residences happened at 4400 Tolbut St. (Jan. 2), 8200 Craig St. (Jan. 3) and 8700 Midland Ave. (Dec. 28). Other burglaries happened at an apartment house at 9200 Blue Grass Road (Dec. 29), a restaurant at 8300 State Road (Dec. 21) and a storage facility at 11500 Roosevelt Blvd. (Dec. 24).

There were 46 thefts, which targeted 24 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags), 12 businesses, four street thefts, three apartment houses, two private residences and a nursing/retirement home. One arrest was made. In addition, seven vehicles were reported stolen, and seven were recovered.

15th Police District

There were 13 robberies. Rasheen Goode, 18, was arrested Dec. 29 following the robbery of a vehicle parked at 4200 Devereaux Ave. with a handgun. Other robberies on the street with handguns took place at 5300 Torresdale Ave. (Dec. 24), 4300 Frankford Ave. (Dec. 26), 4100 Wellington St. (Dec. 29), 1400 Arrott St. (Dec. 29), 2700 Loney St. (Jan. 1), 5100 Akron St. (Dec. 22) and 5800 Jackson St. (Dec. 28) as well as a robbery with a knife at 4300 Torresdale Ave. (Dec. 29) and robberies with no weapons at 1900 Church St. (Dec. 27) and 4400 Sheffield Ave. (Dec. 30). A private residence at 3100 Saint Vincent St. was robbed with a handgun on Dec. 23, and a mini market at 7400 Frankford Ave. was robbed Dec. 21.

There were 20 aggravated assaults. Sean Casey, 35, was arrested Dec. 31 following two domestic assaults at a private residence at 4500 Salmon St. Assaults on the street involving handguns happened at 4300 Penn St. (Dec. 21), 4700 Charles Terrace (Dec. 21), 4900 Darrah St. (Dec. 23), 4900 Frankford Ave. (Dec. 24), 900 Foulkrod St. (Dec. 26) and 7400 Torresdale Ave. (Jan. 3); assaults with knives took place at 4400 Comly St. (Jan. 3) and the intersection of Frankford and Torresdale avenues (Dec. 25); assaults with other weapons happened at 900 Foulkrod St. (Dec. 23), 5100 Frankford Ave. (Dec. 29) and 2800 Cottman Ave. (Dec. 30); an assault with no weapon happened at 7200 Charles St. (Dec. 28); and a domestic assault took place at 1500 Dyre St. (Dec. 24). Assaults at private residences included two incidents with handguns at 4000 Creston St. (Jan. 1) and two domestic assaults at 1400 Howell St. (Dec. 31) and 5300 Akron St. (Dec. 31), and an assault at a prison facility at 7900 State Road took place on Dec. 23.

There were eight burglaries, which resulted in two arrests. Jarika Nixon-Gardner, 29, was arrested Dec. 29 following a burglary at a private residence at 1900 Margaret St., and Freimy Rivera, 19, was arrested Dec. 31 following a burglary at a private residence at 3200 Ryan Ave. Other burglaries took place at private residences at 5200 Burton St. (Dec. 23) and 3500 Oakmont St. (Dec. 25), on the street at 1600 Vandike St. (Dec. 22) and 6500 Harbison Ave. (Dec. 29), at an apartment house at 6600 Hegerman St. (Dec. 26) and at a parking lot/garage at 1000 Haworth St. (Dec. 24).

There were 84 thefts, which targeted 42 vehicles, 19 businesses, 15 street thefts, seven private residences and a SEPTA elevated station. Four arrests were made.
