Police announce arrest of Philadelphia officer in Northeast crash

A 14th Police District officer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed into a home on 2800 Comly Road.

Philadelphia Police Officer Gregory Campbell was arrested Feb. 6 for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle into a home on the 2800 block of Comly Road.

The crash severely injured one person and caused an injury on a second. It also killed a dog inside of the home and injured a second.

The crash also caused expansive damage of the home.

Campbell, 27, was off duty when he crashed the vehicle. He is a two-year veteran of the department assigned to the 14th Police District.

Campbell faces charges of aggravated assault while driving under the influence, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, aggravated assault by vehicle, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, unsafe speed and reckless driving.

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw suspended him for 30 days with the intent to dismiss him at the end.
