Crime log: March 24, 2021

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

March 1 through 14

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were seven robberies. Kevin Mitchell, 19, was arrested March 2 following a robbery with a handgun of a vehicle parked at 1200 Robbins St. Robberies on the street happened at 7100 Summerdale Ave. (March 5), 1300 Greeby St. (March 10), 700 Borbeck Ave. (March 10) and 5900 Lawndale St. (March 12), all of which involved handguns, and at 2100 Brighton St. (March 6) with no weapon. A mini market at 6300 Castor Ave. was robbed March 13.

There were 13 assaults, which resulted in four arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 200 Howell St. (March 3), twice at 600 Benner St. (March 12), the intersection of Tyson Avenue and Pennway Street (March 12, Vance Wroten, 26); assaults with other weapons happened at 6800 Algon Ave. (March 14) and twice at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (March 14); and a domestic assault happened at 200 Devereaux Ave. (March 9, Justin Gray, 21). Assaults at private residences happened at 6000 Summerdale Ave. (March 6) with a handgun and a domestic assault at 1200 Kerper St. (March 14), and an assault with a weapon happened at a hotel/motel at 4200 Roosevelt Blvd. (March 4, Andre Boyer, 54). Christopher Dickenson, 32, was arrested March 1 following two assaults on police at a bank at 7500 Castor Ave.

There were five burglaries. Melissa Macrine, 42, Christian Vasquez, 45, and Rebecca Vasquez, 42, were arrested March 3 following a burglary at a private residence at 1400 Tyson Ave., and Jason Dziedzic, 34, was arrested March 5 following a burglary at a private residence at 2100 Hartel Ave. Other burglaries happened at a private residence at 5200 Howland St. (March 1), an apartment house at 6500 Large St. (March 5) and a commercial garage at 1600 Cottman Ave. (March 7). 

There were 56 thefts, which targeted 22 businesses, 22 vehicles (including four stolen vehicle tags), five street thefts, four private residences, an apartment house, a doctor’s office and a hospital. Nine arrests were made. In addition, 14 vehicles were reported stolen, and nine were recovered.

7th Police District

Two robberies took place on the street at 1800 Carwithan St. (March 12) with a handgun and at a vehicle parked at 1600 Solly Ave. (March 4).

There were two aggravated assaults. Thomas Blood, 47, was arrested March 3 following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 1800 Evarts St. An assault with no weapon happened at an apartment house at 10800 Rennard St. on March 14.

The three burglaries took place at a private residence at 1900 Benton Ave. (March 9), a commercial garage at 2000 Grant Ave. (March 5) and a storage facility at 1200 Byberry Road (March 10).

There were 34 thefts, which targeted 18 businesses, 13 vehicles, a bicycle, a private residence and an apartment house.

8th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

There were nine aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults on the street happened at 9000 Convent Ave. (March 4), 3700 Pitt Place (March 8) and 1500 Franklin Mills Circle (March 14), all of which involved handguns, and at 4000 Placid St. with another weapon (March 14, Christopher George, 53). There were two assaults at a prison facility at 8300 State Road (March 3 with a knife and March 13 with no weapon), and another assault at a prison facility at 8200 State Road with no weapon (March 1). Other assaults happened at a private residence at 8800 Frankford Ave. (March 8, Eduwardo Palacio, 21) and at an apartment house at 9100 Ryerson Road (March 7, Amber Percival, 27).

The only reported burglary happened at an unlisted location at 8800 Torresdale Ave. on March 5.

There were 36 thefts, which targeted 17 businesses, 14 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags and a stolen car phone), four street thefts and a nursing/retirement home.

15th Police District

There were six robberies. Robberies on the street took place at 4600 Adams Ave. (March 11) and 5100 Frankford Ave. (March 3) with handguns, and at 6400 Marsden St. (March 9) and 6800 Edmund St. (March 14) with no weapon. Other robberies happened at a private residence at 4200 Passmore St. (March 1) with a handgun and at a mini market at 3400 Longshore Ave. (March 2). 

There were 20 aggravated assaults, which resulted in six arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 5000 Griscom St. (March 7), 4000 Chippendale St. (March 10), 1000 Harrison St. (March 10), 4400 Teesdale St. (March 11), 4500 Richmond St. (March 14) and 2800 Tyson Ave. (March 14); assaults with other weapons happened at 1600 Orthodox St. (March 10) and twice at 1000 Arrott St. (March 11); and domestic assaults happened at 4900 Hawthorne St. (March 1, Shahid Young, 26), 4900 Princeton Ave. (March 7) and 5700 Erdrick St. (March 9). Domestic assaults at private residences happened at 4300 Teesdale St. (March 7, Joseph Razler, 44), 6100 Tackawanna St. (March 9, Gabriel Correa, 21), 6600 Algard St. (March 2, Francisco Alwaque, 29), 5400 Saul St. (March 6, Jason Brown, 47), 7000 Cottage St. (March 6) and 2000 Fraley St. (March 9, Joel Rivera, 47). An assault with a handgun happened at a private residence at 1600 E. Cheltenham Ave. on March 7, and an assault with another weapon happened at a private residence at 2000 Bridge St. on March 9.

There were 10 burglaries, which resulted in three arrests. Private residences were burglarized at 7100 Walker St. (March 4), 2000 Simon St. (March 10), twice at 4300 Frankford Ave. (March 12, Ronald Antler, 40), 1600 Kinsey St. (March 10, Bailie Heffer, 20), 1300 Orthodox St. (March 12) and 1600 Bridge St. (March 8). Other burglaries happened at an apartment house at 1600 Bridge St. (March 2), a retail location at 4000 Cottman Ave. (March 14, William Kessler, 51) and a church/synagogue at 5700 Jackson St. (March 4).

There were 68 thefts, which targeted 28 vehicles (including seven stolen vehicle tags), 14 businesses, 13 street thefts, 11 private residences, a hospital and an unlisted location. Two arrests were made.
