Crime log: April 30, 2021

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

April 12 through 25

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd District Police

There were 12 robberies. Incidents on the highway including handguns happened at 2100 Faunce St. (April 15), 1600 Rhawn St. (April 15), 6800 Souder St. (April 17) and 1000 Saint Vincent St. (April 20); incidents with knies happened at 1300 Stirling St. (April 12), 2200 Princeton Ave. (April 23) and 7500 Summerdale Ave. (April 24); and an incident with another weapon happened at 1400 Creston St. (April 13). Other robberies happened at private residences at 1400 Unruh Ave. (April 16) and 1200 Stirling St. (April 18), an apartment house at 7000 Rutland St. (April 24) and a restaurant at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 13). 

There were seven aggravated assaults, which resulted in two arrests. Miah Nozir, 42, was arrested April 23 following an assault with a knife on the street at 2600 Cottman Ave., and Luis Gonzalez, 19, was arrested following an assault at a private residence at 7200 Lawndale St. Other incidents included an assault with a handgun at 2300 Cottman Ave. (April 17), assaults on the street with no weapons at 1100 Shelmire Ave. (April 15), 1100 Longshore Ave. (April 17) and 800 Brill St. (April 18), and at a private residence at 7100 Rutland St. (April 17).

There were seven burglaries. Kebean Pierre, 35, was arrested April 23 following a robbery at a private residence at 500 Rosalie St. Other burglaries took place at private residences at 1200 Cottman Ave. (April 12), 7400 Claridge St. (April 13), 1300 Brighton St. (April 15), 6100 Palmetto St. (April 17) and 6600 Leonard St. (April 18), and at an apartment house at 4000 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 20).

There were 56 thefts, which targeted 28 businesses, 17 vehicles, eight street thefts, two private residences and an apartment house. Five arrests were made. In addition, 12 vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. Three arrests were made. 

7th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

There were three aggravated assaults, which each resulted in an arrest. Henry Kuotun, 40, was arrested April 21 following an assault with a knife at an apartment house at 10000 Northeast Blvd.; Aliaksandr Charvach, 36, was arrested April 24 following an assault with a weapon at an apartment house at 1900 Goodnaw St.; and Jose Ramon-Reyes, 30, was arrested April 21 following an assault at a private residence at 2000 Beyer Ave. 

The only reported burglary happened at a storage facility at 1200 Byberry Road on April 18.

There were 33 thefts, which targeted 17 vehicles, 13 businesses, a street theft, a private residence and an apartment house. In addition, six vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen.

8th Police District

Two robberies took place on the street at 9400 Woodbridge Road with a handgun (April 13) and 3400 Red Lion Road with a knife (April 21).

There were six aggravated assaults, including incidents on the street at 8300 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 14) and an assault with a handgun 2600 Grant Ave. (April 12). Three assaults happened at prison facilities, including two with knives at 8200 State Road (April 21) and one with no weapon at 8100 State Road (April 19). An assault with no weapon happened April 12 at an apartment house at 9200 Blue Grass Road.

There were three burglaries, which took place on the street at 2700 Springhouse Road (April 24), on Philadelphia city property at 2800 Southampton Road (April 20) and at an unlisted location at 8400 Jackson St. (April 14).

There were 29 thefts, which targeted 14 vehicles, 11 businesses, two street thefts, a playground/recreation center and an unlisted location. In addition, six vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were 13 robberies. John Chambers, 26, was arrested April 23 following a robbery with a knife at a drugstore at 6300 Frankford Ave. Robberies on the street with handguns happened at 7300 Leon St. (April 14), 7200 State Road (April 16), 6300 Farnsworth St. (April 16), 5200 Comly St. (April 16), 1600 Pratt St. (April 18) and 5400 Saul St. (April 21); and robberies with knives happened at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard (April 16), 1800 Harrison St. (April 19), 1700 Scattergood St. (April 19) and 5100 Frankford Ave. (April 22). A shopping mall at 4500 Castor Ave. was robbed with a handgun on April 25, and an apartment house at 4600 N. Penn St. was robbed with a knife on April 14.

There were 23 aggravated assaults, which resulted in six arrests. Assaults on the street involving handguns happened at 4400 Marple St. (April 16), 2200 Bridge St. (April 17), the intersection of Torresdale and Longshore avenues (April 20, Joseph Hophan, 28, and Joviana Nicole, 25), 5100 Akron St. (April 21), 1900 Devereaux Ave. (April 24), 6400 Torresdale Ave. (April 25), 5500 Tulip St. (April 25, Krista Lazaro-Purvis, 36), 5900 N. Penn St. (April 25, Deric Williams, 33), and 6700 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 25); assaults with knives happened at 4900 Duffield St. (April 19), 6800 New State Road (April 24) and 4800 Darrah St. (April 25); and assaults with no weapons at 4300 Sheffield Ave. (April 12), the intersection of Leon Street and Ryan Avenue (April 19), the intersection of Torresdale and Bleigh avenues (April 19) and the intersection of Harbison and Torresdale avenues (April 22). Assaults at private residences happened at 1800 Margaret St. (April 20), 4700 Ashville St. (April 20) and 3200 Brighton St. (April 22), all of which involved weapons, and 5700 Leonard St. (April 14), 6200 Montague St. (April 15) and 5900 Tacony St. (April 18), which involved no weapons. Marcus Moore, 34, was arrested April 23 following an assault at an apartment house at 2300 Orthodox St. (April 15).

There were seven burglaries, which took place at private residences at 2900 Hellerman St. (April 13), 4100 Stirling St. (April 16), 4800 Frankford Ave. (April 20), 5200 Oxford Ave. (April 20) and 1700 Scattergood St. (April 20), at a drugstore at 6500 Harbison Ave. (April 18) and a church/synagogue at 2300 Orthodox St. (April 14).

There were 68 thefts, which targeted 31 vehicles, 17 street thefts, 10 private residences, nine businesses and a nursing/retirement home. Four arrests were made. In addition, 33 vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. Three arrests were made.
