Crime log: May 18, 2021

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

April 26 through May 9

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were three robberies, which happened on the street at 6400 Oxford Ave. (May 5), the intersection of Horrocks Street and Tyson Avenue (May 9), and at a gas station at 6100 Rising Sun Ave. (May 9), all of which involved knives. 

There were 16 aggravated assaults, which resulted in six arrests. Assaults on the street happened at 7800 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 28), 4000 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 2), 7400 Algon Ave. (May 4), 800 Bleigh Ave. (April 26), 1000 Comly St. (April 27), 6600 Rutland St. (May 5) and the intersection of Cottman Avenue and Dungan Road (May 7, Ernest Landsman, 57). Other assaults took place at private residences at 500 Van Kirk St. (May 8), 500 Alcott St. (April 28), 7200 Rutland St. (May 2, Valery Pierre, 34), 7400 Bingham St. (April 28), 6200 Shelbourne St. (April 30, Samuel Rivera, 39), 6300 Eastwood St. (May 1) and 600 Brill St. (May 6, Calvin Hayes). Other assaults happened at apartment houses at 7400 Oxford Ave. (May 7, Taieff Hall, 32), and 6700 Martins Mill Road (April 26, Markell Coleman, 29).

There were two burglaries, which happened at private residences at 1300 Brighton St. (May 3) and 7300 Dungan Road (May 7). Jason Lee Macabe, 35, was arrested following the latter incident.

There were 53 thefts, which targeted 31 businesses, 16 vehicles, three private residences, a hospital and two uncategorized thefts. Two arrests were made. In addition, 12 vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. One arrest was made.

7th Police District

There were two robberies, which happened on the street at 2000 Red Lion Road with a knife on May 7 and at a hotel/motel at 11500 Roosevelt Blvd. with a weapon on May 7. 

There were two aggravated assaults. Robert Swan, 55, was arrested May 3 following an assault at an apartment house at 13600 Philmont Ave. Another assault occurred at an office building at 2000 Grant Ave. on May 7.

There were two burglaries at private residences. James Quinn, 32, was arrested April 27 following a burglary at 2000 Beyer Ave. A private residence at 9900 Alicia St. was burglarized April 30.

There were 26 thefts, which targeted 12 businesses, 10 vehicles, three street thefts and a private residence. Four arrests were made. In addition, two vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. 

8th Police District

There were three robberies, which took place on the street at 2900 Welsh Road on April 28 with a handgun and at 2500 Ashwood Ave. on May 3 with a knife. An apartment house at 10800 Harrow Road was robbed with a knife on May 7.

There were 11 aggravated assaults, which resulted in four arrests. Assaults on the street happened at the intersection of Linden and Delaware avenues (May 2, Samuel Collazo, 34, and Ivan Salgado, 19), the intersection of State Road and Linden Avenue (May 2), 8600 Frankford Ave. (April 26, Justin Hayes, 23), 3500 Arthur St. (May 1) and 12400 Wyndom Road (May 4). Other assaults happened at private residences at 12500 Fedor Road (May 9, Geoffrey Scarinci, 43) and 3200 Ancona Road (May 4) and an apartment house at 3400 Red Lion Road (May 6). Assaults also took place at prison facilities at 8200 State Road (April 28 and May 8) and 8100 State Road (April 29).

There were four burglaries, which resulted in three arrests. Brian Brzowsky, 55, was arrested following two burglaries at restaurants at 9400 State Road (April 29 and May 4), and Terence Houston, 42, and John Rawson, 38, were arrested April 26 following the burglary of a private residence at 2800 Comly Road. A private residence at 3300 Fordham Road was burglarized May 4. 

There were 41 thefts, which targeted 23 vehicles, 12 businesses, three street thefts, an apartment house, an office building, a parking lot/garage and a nursing/retirement home. Two arrests were made. In addition, seven vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen.

15th Police District

There were 10 robberies, which took place on the street at 4500 Disston St. (May 2), 4700 Mulberry St. (May 6), 5700 Cottage St. (May 7), 4400 Loring St. (May 8), the intersection of Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue (May 9), all of which involved handguns; and 5500 Torresdale Ave. (May 2, Tiana Walker, 21), 4300 Bleigh Ave. (May 2), 4600 Leiper St. (May 3, Hafeese Elliott-Bartley, 24), 4600 Devereaux Ave. (May 3) and 3400 Bleigh Ave. (May 9), all of which involved knives.

There were 25 aggravated assaults, which resulted in six arrests. Assaults happened on the street at 5500 Harbison Ave. (April 27), 4800 Tackawanna St. (April 28), 4600 Knorr St. (April 29, Jorge Reyes, 23), 7400 Jackson St. (May 4, Felicia Chasteen, 34), 2700 Pratt St. (May 7), 6400 Harbison Ave. (May 7), 1900 Bridge St. (April 28), the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Castor Avenue (April 29), 6600 Montague St. (May 4), 4000 Torresdale Ave. (May 5), 1300 Ruan St. (May 7), 5100 Frankford Ave. (May 7), 4000 Torresdale Ave. (May 5) and 1500 Arrott St. (May 8). Assaults at private residences happened at 4600 Leiper St. (May 4, Kareem Lewis, 24), 4900 Mulberry St. (May 4, Jose Sanchez-Figueroa, 36), 2100 Fraley St. (May 6), 4200 Glenview St. (May 7), 1400 E. Cheltenham Ave. (April 28), 1900 Granite St. (April 30, Tierra McCall, 32) and 5700 Erdrick St. (April 27). Other assaults happened at a gas station at 6300 Frankford Ave. (April 27), a food store at 7700 Frankford Ave. (April 27, Edward Hagan, 24), an apartment house at 2300 Duncan St. (May 2) and an uncategorized incident at 4600 Penn St. (April 27). 

There were 13 burglaries, which took place at private residences at 5400 Rutland St. (April 27), 6100 Algard St. (April 27), 1500 Foulkrod St. (April 28), 5000 Jackson St. (April 28), 1800 Margeret St. (April 29), 4700 Melrose St. (May 2), 2100 Devereaux Ave. (May 2), 1500 Foulkrod St. (May 6), 4800 Jackson Place (May 7), 1500 Foulkrod St. (May 6), 4800 Jackson Place (May 7), 1600 Foulkrod St. (May 8), 6100 Cottage St. (May 9) and 2000 Sanger St. (May 9), and at a gas station at 7100 Torresdale Ave. (May 2). 

There were 62 thefts, which targeted 24 vehicles, 16 businesses, 11 private residences, nine street thefts (including a purse snatching), an apartment house and a SEPTA elevated station. One arrest was made. In addition, 29 vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. Two arrests were made.
