Crime log: June 2, 2021

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

May 10 through 23

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were eight robberies, which took place on the street at 1400 Lardner St. (May 10) and 1200 Glenview St. (May 23) with handguns and at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 17) and 2500 Shelmire Ave. (May 19) with knives. Other robberies happened at a private residence at 1300 Unruh Ave. (May 17), a hotel/motel at 7600 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 14), a retail location at 6800 Rising Sun Ave. (May 14) and a gas station at 5700 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 18).

There were 12 aggravated assaults, which happened on the street at 6500 Cranford Ave. (May 13), 7500 Calvert St. (May 16), 1000 Benner St. (May 22), the intersection of Horrocks Street and Cottman Avenue (May 23), 1600 Borbeck Ave. (May 12) and 2100 Bleigh Ave. (May 17). Other assaults happened at private residences at 6700 Large St. (May 10, Louis Eubanks, 62), 7100 Lynford St. (May 23), 5800 Oxford Ave. (May 23, John Jones, 39) and 1700 Loney St. (May 21), and at apartment houses at 7200 Oxford Ave. (May 12) and 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 15, Dominique Billups, 25).

There were five burglaries, which happened at private residences at 5300 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 15), 1400 Friendship St. (May 19) and 1300 Stirling St. (May 22), at an apartment house at 1300 Hellerman St. (May 22) and a public housing site at 500 E. Hill Creek Drive (May 17).

There were 75 thefts, which targeted 34 businesses, 28 vehicles, seven street thefts (including a purse snatching), three private residences, an apartment house, a hotel/motel and a commercial garage. Two arrests were made. In addition, 15 vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. Two arrests were made.

7th Police District

Botnarenco Ion, 33, was arrested May 10 following a robbery on the street at 1500 Stoney Lane involving a knife in the only reported robbery.

There were six aggravated assaults, which took place on the street at 200 Erica St. (May 20) and 8200 Elberon Ave. (May 10), a private residence at 1200 Serota Place (May 11), an apartment house at 9400 Clark St. (May 11), a restaurant at 9100 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 10) and a food store at 900 Red Lion (May 11).

There were two burglaries, which took place at a private residence at 8000 Pine Road (May 11) and an apartment house at 2000 Welsh Road (May 10).

There were 25 thefts, which targeted 11 vehicles, nine businesses, two street thefts, an apartment house, a day care facility and a public school. Three arrests were made. In addition, four vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen.

8th Police District

The two reported robberies took place on the street at 10000 Frankford Ave. (May 16) and 2500 Welsh Road (May 20), both involving knives. 

There were 13 aggravated assaults. Kwame Waters, 24, was arrested May 12 following an assault on the street at 9900 Frankford Ave. Assaults on the street happened at 8600 Gillespie St. (May 15), 0 Franklin Mills Blvd. (May 15), 8000 Frankford Ave. (May 15), 3300 S. Keswick Road (May 15) and 5100 Linden Ave. (May 21). Other assaults took place at apartment houses at 3500 Woodhaven Road (May 15) and 10200 E. Keswick Road (May 16), a private residence at 12500 Fedor Road (May 17) and a restaurant at 9100 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 11). Three assaults took place at prison facilities at 8200 State Road (May 15 and 19) and 8100 State Road (May 16).

There were four burglaries, which took place at private residences at 11900 Waldemire Drive (May 12), 12400 Academy Road (May 19) and 8300 Frankford Ave. (May 16) and at an apartment house at 1300 Stewards Way (May 19). 

There were 52 thefts, which targeted 27 vehicles, 19 businesses, five street thefts (including a purse snatching) and a park. One arrest was made. In addition, five vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen.

15th Police District

There were 13 robberies, which resulted in four arrests. Jocelyn Aviles, 28, Christopher Lancaster, 35, and Nancy Torres, 46, were all arrested May 11 following a robbery on the street at 4800 Tackawanna St. with a knife. Jose Frias-Sirverio, 22, was arrested May 15 following a robbery with a handgun at 1000 Foulkrod St. Robberies on the street happened at 4400 Paul St. and 1300 Arrott St. (May 11), the intersection of Adams and Kensington avenues (May 13), 4200 Griscom St. and 5000 Comly St. (May 14), 5200 Frankford Ave. (May 15), the intersection of Rowland and Bleigh avenues (May 16) and 4000 Decatur St. and 3300 St. Vincent St.(May 17). Other robberies happened at a grocery store at 1300 Dyre St. (May 12) and a drugstore at 6300 Frankford Ave. (May 20), both of which involved handguns.

There were 31 aggravated assaults, which resulted in 15 arrests. Assaults on the street happened at 3500 Chippendale Ave. (May 10), 6000 Torresdale Ave. (May 11, Diamond Batts, 28), 2100 McKinley St. (May 12, Terrance Smith, 21), 5500 Tulip St. (May 12), 1400 E. Cheltenham Ave. (May 14, Darrell Bell, 27), 3400 Cottman Ave. (May 15), 1500 Pratt St. (May 16, Stephen Tyler, 20), 4400 Frankford Ave. (May 18), 4700 Loring St. (May 19), 2000 Carver St. (May 20), 5300 Saul St. (May 21, Anyelo Uceta, 29), 1700 Bridge St. (May 23), the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Sellers Street (May 14, Porchia Henderson, 21), 4900 Frankford Ave. (May 11), 900 Orthodox St. (May 12, Jailine Maldonado, 19), 1600 Wakeling St. (May 15), 2800 Lefevre St. (May 15, Mitchell Meleski, 41), 4500 Torresdale Ave. (May 20), 7400 Roosevelt Blvd. (May 23) and 5400 Tackawanna St. (May 23, Latysha Wells, 34). Assaults at private residences happened at 4700 Leiper St. (May 12, John Rush, 67), 2600 Elbridge St. (May 13), 4600 Penn St. (May 13, Faviola Melendez-Llanos, 33, and Priscilla Parra, 26), 7100 Glenloch St. (May 14, Leyser Reneifo, 44), 2800 Hellerman St. (May 23) and 4200 Stirling St. (May 23). Other assaults happened at a retail location at 1500 Pratt St. (May 12, Francheska Lacend, 31), a grocery store at 1500 Pratt St. (May 15, Melvin Gore, 26), an apartment house at 1300 Foulkrod St. (May 19) and unlisted locations at 4700 Marple St. (May 16) and 4600 Devereaux Ave. (May 21). 

There were 11 burglaries, which targeted private residences at 2500 Church St. (May 10), 4500 Tackawanna St. (May 12), 1900 Berkshire St. (May 16), 2900 Gilham St. (May 19), 4700 Melrose St. (May 19), 6300 Keystone St. (May 23) and 5500 Tacony St. (May 23). Other burglaries happened at apartment houses at 1600 Wakeling St. (May 15) and 1600 Kinsey St. (May 17) and grocery stores at 5900 Torresdale Ave. (May 12) and 6100 Torresdale Ave. (May 23).

There were 73 thefts, which targeted 38 vehicles, 15 businesses, 11 street thefts, five private residences and four unlisted locations. Three arrests were made. In addition, 22 vehicles were recovered after being reported stolen. One arrest was made.
