Arrest made in Tacony crash that injured officer

Police have arrested a man in connection with Wednesday night’s crash in Tacony that injured a 15th Police District officer.

At about 8 p.m. on the 6700 block of Torresdale Ave., police said a 2013 black Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound when it crossed the double yellow lines and struck the officer as she was walking back to her patrol vehicle. After the crash, police said the driver of the Malibu fled northbound on Torresdale Avenue.

Officers responded to the collision and observed the Malibu disregard a red light at Cottman Avenue and then park at 7300 Torresdale Ave. Police said the operator of the Malibu exited the vehicle and began walking away but was stopped by the officers.

Terrell Lee, 41, of the 300 block of W. Courtland St., was arrested and charged with DUI and related offenses after being identified as the driver.

Fire Medic 47B transported the officer to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in a stable condition. ••
