Kutztown University announced that 306 students will be part of the university’s Honors Program in 2022-23. Local members of the program are Alexa May, Sean McCarron, Matthew Ott and Keara Riley. The fall semester began Aug. 29. ••

Amruthkiran Hegde received a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Alabama during its summer commencement ceremony. ••

Father Judge graduate Earl Volz and Archbishop Ryan graduate Eric Stevenson Jr. are defensive linemen on the Kutztown football team. The home opener from Andre Reed Stadium is slated for Saturday, Sept. 10, against California (Pa.) at noon. ••

Zarina Shavkatova made the dean’s list at Missouri State University. Criteria include enrollment in at least six credit hours during the summer semester and at least a 3.50 GPA (on a 4.00 scale). ••

James Madison University welcomed the class of 2026 to campus. Local students are Olivia Ovington, a biology major, and Gia Schmidt, a general psychology major. ••

Kutztown University announced 13 student-athletes will represent its women’s cross country team for the 2022 season, including Anastasia Fratanduono, an Archbishop Ryan graduate. KU’s first home meet will be the DII/DIII challenge, which will take place on Sept. 16. ••
