Fence Guys perform good deed for senior veteran

Mel Weiss is a nice guy who’s lived on his block of Afton Street in Rhawnhurst for 60 years.

Dog owners love to visit Mel’s lawn, but sometimes not clean up after their pets.

With the help of a friend, Sharon Mack, Mel looked for fencing, but the wire version was too flimsy.

They got an estimate for a chain-link fence, but it was for a costly $2,300.

Mack then contacted The Fence Guys, based in Montgomeryville, and the company agreed to perform the work for free for Mel, a senior citizen and U.S. Army veteran.

On Saturday, The Fence Guys’ Joey Woodruff showed up to complete the job. He installed a wood fence that is 4 feet high and 24 feet long.

During the process, 81-year-old Mario Barrientos, a resident of nearby Frontenac Street, stopped by to help Woodruff, who appreciated the assistance.

Mel loves the look of his new fence, and thanks Sharon and Joey and The Fence Guys for making it happen.
