The Pink Sox went 5-0 to win Saturday’s sixth Szychulski Wiffleball Tournament at Robert Hayes Playground.
Team members, all of Bustleton, were Dan McCullion, Shane Szychulski, Mark Dickson and Michael Previtera.
Szychulski was named Most Valuable Player in the double-elimination tournament. He was the pitcher and hit a two-run home run in a 4-2 victory over the Blue Coats in the championship game.
In all, 13 teams competed, paying $100 each to participate and taking part in four-inning games. McCullion (Holy Ghost Prep senior), Szychulski (Father Judge junior), Dickson (La Salle High junior) and Previtera (Holy Ghost junior) split the $1,300 winnings, with each getting $325.
Szychulski, a member of Father Judge’s state championship baseball team, also teamed with McCullion and three others — including his brothers, Denis III and Jack — to win the recent Holly Colwell Save 2nd Base Wiffle Ball Tournament, also held at Hayes Playground. ••
