Troop 160 at the Protestant Home

The Philadelphia Protestant Home on Monday hosted its annual Memorial Day ceremony.

Bill Conaway, PPH’s director of community relations, emceed the event. Resident Audrey Alston led the crowd in the singing of the national anthem, Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones and God Bless America.

The PPH event also included prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, a performance by Boy Scout Troop 160, remarks from state Rep. Anthony Bellmon, City Councilman Anthony Phillips and Troop 160 Scoutmaster Walt MacBride, a wreath laying by resident Carol Drummond, the playing of Taps and a reading of the poem In Flanders Fields by resident Carol Feeley.

Conaway also explained the meaning of the table set for one, signifying Prisoners of War and Missing in Action. ••
