Seeking Review – My Experience with Luxury Dating
I will admit upfront I don’t like online dating.
- Tinder is a roller coaster ride into the depths of Dating Hell.
- eHarmony sucks the joy out of spontaneous romance.
- Facebook Dating is creepy, because I don’t want to date any of my friends of friends.
- Ashley Madison is just a pack of wild dogs barking and humping things.
So when I think about dating…
And actually taking the time to shower, pluck my eyebrows, shave my legs, put on makeup, try on three or four combinations of clothes, accessorize said combinations, and then finally get to my hair (and we’re already about 30 minutes in here)…
Only to meet a guy who shows up in his work clothes, barely shaven or groomed, very low energy, and of course followed by the “forced laughter” and “forced conversation” thing, it’s disheartening.
Dating is stressful. It’s a lot of work and preparation for an attempted coupling that very often feels wrong from the first time you meet.
So when I did my Seeking review (at the behest of a friend of mine who swore by it) I was cynical, to say the least.
“It’s the Rolls Royce of Dating”
My friend called Seeking.com the equivalent of “Riding First Class” in dating, and the “Rolls Royce of my love life” that I hadn’t tried yet.
“If you only date guys in bars, or using free internet apps, then you’re settling for average. All you will ever meet is average guys.”
What she said was starting to make sense. But what really got me is what she said next:
“Where do you think movie stars go to get dates? Where do rich men, world travelers, and supermodels go to find someone in their league? They are using elite sites like Seeking. Because they have higher expectations.”
I admit, I liked the idea of feeling butterflies again. I hadn’t felt my pulse race in ages. And the last time a well-dressed, confident and interesting man had asked me out?
Well…it might have been pre-COVID!
And as soon as I found out that Seeking offers free memberships to women, I was all in.
Signing Up with Seeking.com
You start with an email address, a password, and then select your identifying information (gender, sexual preferences, age, and location). You also have the option to connect your Facebook or Instagram account as the main source of your photos.
This is a handy feature at first glance, since I have stored most of my photos over the years on Instagram and it makes it much easier to fill out a profile without spending too much time uploading files.
Then again, I’m NOT technically single… {Awkward face}
So I can see why connecting your married Facebook profile to a Seeking Arrangements date site wouldn’t be a good idea.
But no worries, you can announce yourself as single, divorced, separated, widowed, in an open relationship, or even Married but Looking.
Filling Out a Million Dollar Profile
Now here’s where things get a little jumpy.
Filling out a profile for the “elite” feels a bit like Grace Farrell trying to impress Daddy Warbucks. (Oops, I might be dating myself)
There are also many options to choose from in SeekingArrangements as far as what kind of adult dating you would like to try.
Seeking.com has added many unique seeking arrangements options, such as trans-friendly, open, “mentorship”, passport ready, and the like. And just in case you need more words to describe the connection you’re seeking, you can also explain it in a text field.
From there, it’s time to fill out an interesting heading and an About Me section to talk about what you’re looking for.
Successful Or Beautiful – But Not Both?
But the most interesting option is whether you want to search for “Successful Members” or “Attractive Members.”
Successful members tend to be generous, charming, and fun people that want to “enhance” their date’s lifestyle.
Attractive members are either beautiful or handsome (by a majority consensus, I guess) and they bring excitement, exuberance, and the art of conversation to the table.
How Modern is SeekingArrangements?
It’s important to understand the progress Seeking has made over the years in LGBTQ and feminist inclusivity.
When Seeking Arrangements was first founded in 2006, it was a sugar dating website that let mostly rich men chase beautiful women who were “seeking arrangements.”
But over the years, as the culture has changed, so has the brand. Now Seeking.com is geared towards a more egalitarian audience, with both men and women able to join the “Successful” or “Attractive” members club.
While a lot has been written about Seeking’s “elitism”, it’s not as blatant as you might fear. Profiles are moderated on occasion and some users are banned for suspicious activities.
As far as “beauty” goes, “in the eye of the beholder” and all that, you’re not going to see only heteronormative, super thin magazine cover models.

While I do wish there were more options to choose for gender, at least the opening question is worded carefully: “What do you identify as?”, giving users the respect to be trans and included with other members, and to choose “men, women, or both” as your sexual preferences.
The Demographics of Seeking
A Seeking review concludes that most users are between the ages of 18-34 and the majority of users are female.
Who uses the site, besides attractive and successful people?
People seeking to “elevate their dating experiences”, is a good way to describe it.
People who want more passion, instant attraction, and who understand that the successful meshing of lifestyles is very much part of the dating experience.
People are seeking arrangements because they dream big. They want more out of life than just hookups, short-term affairs, or long-term relationships with a nice roommate.
They want a level of excitement that “average” or “good enough” can’t provide.
And they’re simply not attracted to average, ordinary, or as Belle from Beauty and the Beast might say, they “want much more than this provincial life.”
And Seeking.com is clearly the best dating site for luxury dating, not only in terms of options but even in popularity. The site has over 40 million members in 130 countries.
So let’s say you’ve dated for a while and have seen just about everything there is to see in your city or hometown. Getting kind of bored?
Once you decide you’re tired of the same old scene is when you might look up Seeking. There’s the connection to another world, another tier of dating, that you haven’t tried yet.
I’m glad I kept an open mind because Seeking did put me in touch with some very interesting prospects.
Is Seeking Arrangements Still a Sugar Dating Site?
Now that the site is no longer “sugar dating”, does that mean all the rich guys have left?
No, they are definitely still here and that explains the legendary “10-1 female-to-male ratio” that is still thrown around today, which is really unparalleled among other dating sites.
Although to be fair, the website has recently dropped this figure down to a more believable 4-1 women-to-men population.
Yes, there are a lot of successful members who happen to be men and a majority of attractive members that happen to be female. Progress takes a while.
So if you were curious about using Seeking as a means to “get paid while dating”, rest assured, there are wealthy members here who still understand what “luxury dating” implies.
Namely, it’s about what successful men can do for me – me, who puts in the time and effort to look good, be a witty conversationalist, and who can make a man feel like a million dollars when it comes to flirting.
That’s why the guys on Seeking.com are really the “top tier” of the internet.
In my experience, the guys I met at Seeking Arrangement didn’t mind paying for dinner. They all paid full price for their membership. They bought me gifts.
And they were not whiners or complainers. They were grateful for my time and companionship.
Some of these guys leave tips, buy gifts, give allowances, and the like.
But it’s a person-to-person thing now, and the website does not offer the “sugar benefits” like they used to.
Nevertheless, I was surprised to learn that the “successful members” here are indeed, mature, stable, worldly-wise and generous when it comes to sharing their wealth over a good meal.
Simply put, Seeking’s gentlemen know how to treat a lady! I went on a few dates with my matches and had no complaints. Great banter, fun people, and good times.
Seeking Arrangements with a Well-to-Do Partner
The search option for Seeking is fairly open-ended, and you can filter out wrong types according to location, body, age, and lifestyle.
You can browse profiles by members online, new members, or Diamond members (who pay top-level membership), and “Featured Members”, who pay a moderate rate for a profile boost.
But the most important search filters are “ID Verified” and “background check. Members can pay to verify their identity or to outsource a background check to OptimumScreening.
The identity verification includes an ID check based on a government-issued document ($4.99), while the photo verification is confirmed by a simple selfie.
The background check ($50) takes 3-5 business days and includes a criminal database search, sex offender search, and other local and federal searches regarding a person’s safety.
Once you pass these verification procedures your profile will display your “Verified” badges. This gives other users confidence that you’re a safe person and that this is a secure platform.
Unfortunately, as of early 2023, there is no income verification procedure, so users are advised to date cautiously and get to know a “Successful Member” before assuming anything about their wealth.
Most Seeking reviews obviously omit this detail, and honestly, I was a little disappointed.
But it’s understandable that some wealthy men really don’t want to share private financial information online.
Wishlists and Other Sugary Treats
While much of the old Seeking Arrangements is gone, there are still a few features from the original Seeking, which catered to sugar dating.
Attractive members can still create a Gift Wishlist, and let potential suitors know cool items might score them major points on a date.
You can make your Gift Wishlist private or public.
Chat, Messaging, and Video Chat
Messaging is free for women, though the site advises you to be careful and not share any financial information OR agree to a pay-per-meet arrangement.
“Attractive members” can also send photos, send funny GIF animations, or even video chat after you upload a photo and at least do a selfie verification.
Successful members, on the other hand, have to sign up for Premium or Diamond Membership before they can even text.
Premium Membership is the recommended package, but Diamond Membership adds a boosted profile, a Diamond Elite badge, and faster responses from members overall.
The video chat feature is a nice touch and is not common even among other top dating sites.
The biggest problem is that the majority of Successful Seeking members want Verified Attractive Members, meaning you may have to opt for the background check and verify your photos so that you will pass everyone’s “scammer test.”
Most Seeking reviews I’ve read alluded to expensive trips around the world. While I’m sure some members were treated to this, I would advise Attractive members to measure their expectations.
I did go bourbon tasting. We went to a fine restaurant. We haven’t seen Paris…yet.
But hope springs eternal, doesn’t it?
Upgrading to a Premium Membership
The Premium Membership is worth it if you’re “Successful” and have little to no texting freedom.
However, for women who already get free texting and video chat just by joining the site, Seeking.com Premium doesn’t offer many extra benefits.
You can get Advanced Privacy and go “invisible” whenever you want, you can unlock more advanced search filters, you can manage your inbox filters, save member notes if needed, read “message receipts” (to see if they saw your message and ignored it – how dare they!), and get rid of ads.
There is also a “one-time premium package for 90 days” just in case you’re not sure about a full commitment. Pay $44.99 for a discounted price of $15 per month.
Overall, it pays to be attractive and outgoing on Seeking.com. Women can date for free, get free gifts, and meet a top tier of men (or women) who understand the idea of luxury dating – and how much fun it can be for both parties.
