Frankford Homicide of 22-Year-Old Anastasiya Stangret Remains Unsolved

Philadelphia police continue investigating the killing of Anastasiya Stangret more than a year and a half after her death, as her family remains without answers in a case that has yet to be resolved. Stangret, who was 22 years old, was found on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in a vacant lot on the 4700 block of Griscom Street in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

Officers responded to the location at approximately 10:09 p.m. and discovered the remains of a young woman, later identified as Stangret. Police said her body was in an advanced state of decomposition and that she had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. At the time of the discovery, investigators did not know who she was, which delayed notifying her family.

In the weeks before her death, Stangret had stayed in contact with relatives. Her last communication occurred in June 2024, about one week before her mother’s birthday on June 18. During that time, plans were being discussed, but she stopped responding and did not make further contact. Concern increased as time passed, and in July 2024, her family contacted police to report her missing. Authorities did not positively identify her remains until September 2024, several months after her body was found.

Family members have said Stangret had been staying with her boyfriend in the Frankford neighborhood before her death. According to the family, police have ruled him out as a suspect. They have stated their belief that he was not involved, although they think he may have known the person responsible and did not come forward because he was afraid. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

The case remained quiet for months until Philadelphia police announced a potential development. On Friday, December 19, 2025, investigators released surveillance video in an effort to generate new leads. The footage shows Stangret walking with a man in the area of Penn and Arrott streets in Frankford several days before her body was discovered. Police say this is the last known video of her before her death. The surveillance clip contains no audio, and authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the individuals or recalls seeing them in the area to contact police.

Detectives have told the family that there is a person of interest, but no one has been charged or taken into custody. Police have stressed the importance of witnesses coming forward with any information about what they may have seen or heard around the time Stangret disappeared.

The City of Philadelphia is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Stangret’s death. Anyone with information is urged to contact police by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Philadelphia Police Department’s website. The Homicide Unit can be reached at 215-686-3334 or 215-686-3335. The case is listed under DC number 24-15-049080 and is assigned to Detective Bova #9228 and Detective Coulter #9208. Police advise the public not to approach any potential suspect and to contact 911 if necessary.
