Police Inspector David Jardine, a Northeast resident, received a Keurig coffee maker for his field operations unit for being the top individual “loser” in the 29th Weight Watchers Battle of the Badges weight-loss competition.

Jardine received the prize during a ceremony at the Roundhouse. He was joined by John Birnhak, vice president of Weight Watchers of Philadelphia Inc., and Lt. Krista Dahl Campbell, head of the Community Relations Unit.

He also received a $50 award.

The Philadelphia Police Department won this year’s 13-week weight-loss battle and has now won 14 times. The fire department has won 15 times.

The total combined weight loss for both departments is 184,504.7 pounds. Weight Watchers of Philadelphia has contributed $247,500 for college scholarships of children of police officers and firefighters killed or seriously injured in the line of duty. ••
