Benefit dinner scheduled for Saturday

Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network and Holy Family University invite the community to enjoy a sampling of Northeast Philadelphia restaurant specialties at the annual Empty Plate Dinner benefiting local families who are experiencing homelessness.

The dinner is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St Dominic’s Marian Hall, 8532 Frankford Ave.

PIHN-Northeast organized two years ago in response to a growing number of families from the Northeast who were turning to city agencies for emergency housing.

The Empty Plate Dinner is an informal, child-friendly event. Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for college and high school students, and $7 for children 12 and under. For an additional $5 charge, unlimited wine and beer are also available. Guests choose a handmade plate and fill it with food from 40 area restaurants. At the end of the evening, they leave with their empty plate.

Tickets will be available at the door.

To purchase tickets online or to find out more about PIHN’s work, call 215–247–4663, Ext. 137 or go to www.philashelter.org ••
