Two people have been charged with murder for a New Year’s Day shooting in Castor Gardens.

Police said, at about 11:14 a.m., officers from the 2nd District responded to a reported shooting on the 7100 block of Oakland St. Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim. The victim, identified as 52-year-old Luis Colon, of the 7100 block of Oakland St., was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was transported by police to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. Flash information was broadcast over police radio, indicating the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored Chrysler 300.

The vehicle later arrived at Temple University Hospital with two additional gunshot victims. A 21-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound to the hand was listed in stable condition. Another victim, identified as 21-year-old Quadir Tull, of the 2100 block of W. Jefferson St., suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates the involved offenders went to Colon’s residence to initiate a confrontation with his stepdaughter. The offenders are family members of the stepdaughter’s ex-boyfriend, who was not present at the scene. During the incident, police said a 44-year-old female, identified as Cara Williams-Reeves, and an unidentified female allegedly began assaulting Colon’s stepdaughter and wife on the front lawn. When Colon attempted to intervene, police said, Tull and Tyriq Williams pushed him away and produced firearms. Colon then produced his own firearm, police said, and a shootout ensued involving all three males.

After further investigation, Williams-Reeves and Tyriq Williams were arrested and charged with murder and related offenses. ••
