Students raise funds for cancer

George Washington students present a check for $2,200 they raised for breast cancer research.

The George Washington High School National Honor Society raised $2,200 for a breast cancer charity during a recent Walk For a Cure in the football stadium.

About 375 students took part in the event, organized by the 80 senior members of the school’s NHS chapter. The committee chairwoman was senior Lauren Blair, and teacher Andrea Seitchik assisted in her role as the NHS adviser.

Money was raised by contributions and T-shirt sales, and donated to Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Mobile Mammography Unit.

Wanda Ford, who works in Fox Chase’s special events/fundraising department, visited the school to accept the check. She met the students, Seitchik and principal Gene Jones. ••
