Police investigating armed robbery in Somerton

A man held a gun to an employee’s head during a robbery earlier this month at a Roosevelt Boulevard gas station.

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a Somerton gas station at gunpoint earlier this month.

The robbery occurred around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Sunoco station at 10950 Roosevelt Blvd. (near Haldeman Avenue). The man, who was wearing a black mask, put a handgun up to an employees head and asked him to turn the store’s power off, police said.

After taking the employee behind the counter, the suspect snatched cash and cigarettes, according to authorities.

Police described the suspect as a 6-foot black male with a medium build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black backpack, and he also had a black duffle bag, police said.
