Father arrested after child accidentally shot in Tacony

A father has been arrested following an accidental shooting Thursday morning in Tacony that left his 2-year-old son injured, authorities said.

The child grabbed the gun after the father opened a safe inside their home on the 7100 block of Ditman Street, police said. Then, the boy accidentally shot himself in the left hand. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where authorities said he is in stable condition. 

Police did not release the father’s name or potential charges against him. Officers recovered a gun at the scene. ••
