Mason Phil Bachetti, working with mason tender Nick Bachetti, his brother, laid 560 bricks in one hour, capturing last week’s Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 competition at Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 training center, 2702 Black Lake Place.

The Bachetti brothers, of Williamson College of the Trades, beat out nine other regional teams, winning a shot to compete in the world championship in Las Vegas in January.

Teams were tasked with building the largest and best 26-foot-long brick wall they could, with as few errors as possible.

In addition to winning a free trip to the championship competition, the Bachetti brothers won $1,000 and other prizes.

Mason Ryan Fallon and mason tender Lamont Sudler, of Williamson, won the junior event with a brick count of 142, taking home $300 and a $150 gift certificate. ••
