Celebrating centenarians at PPH

Mary DiLeo, 100

The Philadelphia Protestant Home last week marked the 100th day of the year by celebrating its centenarians – 15 residents who are at least 100 years old and another seven who will reach the milestone by the end of the year.

Cecelia Amato is the oldest resident, at 107, and she still lives independently.

The event featured lunch, cake, a champagne toast and the singing of Happy Birthday, and each centenarian received a certificate.

Amato cut the cake and ate the first piece.

PPH interim CEO Nancy King and aides to U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle and state Sen. Tina Tartaglione were in attendance. Boyle’s office presented each centenarian with a congressional Challenge Coin. ••
